I have a 2004 dodge dakota quad cab and noticed a burning type smell and have low antifreeze. I checked and the front of the engine has a small leak of antifreeze but not sure where it is coming from. Also losing speed up hills.

Check engine coolant level. Make sure no coolant in engine oil (crankcase).
Add coolant if low. Check immediately and a few minutes later... if coolant low again identify leak or check oil level. Dont run engine if coolant in oil.
That's a big job (involves removing the dashboard). There are a few videos on YouTube dealing with this. Search "replace heater core dodge Dakota" to get guidance.
P0440-GENERAL EVAP SYSTEM FAILURE, Check your vacuum hoes by the cannister close to your fuel tank. P0442: Evap leak monitor, Small Leak Detected, check/change your gas cap should fix that problem! I hope this helps!
if i had to guess I would say that your gas cap is not on tight enough or that is is bad. chrysler has had a lot of bad gas caps that cause EVAP service engine lights.
Normally you only need to check the level in the tank under the "engine coolant only" cap, but if you had a leak and lost coolant, check that the level of coolant under the "never open when hot" cap (it should be the radiator cap) is full - up to the brim. if not, fill it to overflowing, then cap it, fill the tank to its level, start the truck, let it reach operating temperature, let it cool down again, check the level in the radiator. if it's still fine, you need not worry about it again, just check the level in the tank daily.
the type of antifreeze u use is called "Long life or Extended life" coolant depending on who makes it, like Prestone and others, u can mix any brand of coolant as long as it is marked as one of the above, this coolant is generally yellow in color.
