Engine light/ knocking sensor

Go to obd-codes.com and put in your code. It is a #3 cylinder knock sensor fault which is lengthy to post here. Their site is straight forward and informative.

This Code can be related to a loose or bad fuel/gas cap. I'd confirm it's tight (a couple 'clicks') and not leaking - ensure you note air escaping when the cap is removed, which is normal.

In my database, that code doesn't compute for your vehicle? With the larger engine, my database says bank 1 and bank 2, sensor 1 and sensor 2. No sensor three. The code does talk about 02 heater circuit, so, I would have to check wiring circuits. Once the problem is fixed, the check engine lite should go out. The code will probably stay in memory for so many engine warm up cycles then it is gone.

My scanner will read and erase codes. You can check some obd2 code readers, see if they will read and erase codes? Some people will take the negative battery cable loose to erase codes. I have to say, I don't like to do that. If the problem isn't fixed, the lite will just come back on, again.

Wires, distributor, rotor, vacuum leak, O2 sensors, air filter, fuel filter, bad gas. old gas. Throttle positioning sensor, fuel regulator, weak fuel pump, dirty throttle body. Knock out all of the routine maintenance items, check for codes at advanced auto(even if your engine light is not on) and then re-evaluate it from there. And clean your fuel system at your next fill up with a can of B-12 Chem Tool from the additives section at Walmarts auto section.

If it is a sensor you should have a check engine light on and trouble codes stored in the computer.

If you are talking about turning off the check engine light (CEL), a simple reset will not work. The reason for the CEL being on needs to be addressed first. There are fault codes generated by the computer that can be read a OBII reader. These codes identify the area or sensor where the problem exists. One thing you never want to do is drive the car for longer periods of time with a flashing CEL. A flashing CEL indicates there is a problem that could possibly harm the engine or catalytic converter.

Keep an eye on the coil that was originally on your #1 plug. If it was bad you would get a code again, but I suspect it was a "contact" or connection issue & moving it made better contact on the cylinder you moved it to.

IF YOU REPLACE SENSORS YOU HAVE TO ERASE PCM CODE TO TURN OFF CHECK ENGINE LIGHT.IF YOU DONT IT WILL KEEP LIGHTING UP.

Try the fuel filter. Sounds like the engine might be running rough due to weak fuel pressure. Its cheaper to replace, especially if it's still original from 04. Try running some injector cleaner through a couple of tanks of high octane gas.
