Won't stay running

1997 chevy s-10 had a problem starting and wouldn't stay running. I changed the fuel pump & no change, so I put in a new fuel pump and still the same. It runs if I dump fuel down the carburater. It has a new battery as I wanted to make sure the old battery wasn't the problem as it was running at 12.4 volts.. Thanks from kk.

- thanks for the great tips, long day, ya it has a carb and I meant when I dump gas down the throttle body, I have hosed it with carb cleaner prior to the other stuff, I will check the throttle body, good idea, I am also thinking that there maybe a problem with the roll over shut off. If you have any other ideas let me know, thanks from kimble.

Well first i domt think this vehicle is carburated it is fuel injected anywho may be a vacume leak check aLL hoses for cracks or any that are unattached then i would check the idle control valve or(IAC)_may be stuck try spraying throttle cleaner and swabbing out the throttle body

I am a gm tech u either have a egr valve stuck open or a leaking fuel press regulator which is under the upper plenum i would check the valve first just remove the valve it should be visibly open if thats your problem.
