Most likeley the front calipers are hanging up and heated up the rotors warping them. the cheapest way out is jack up each side of the van and spin each tire while someone slightly presses the brake to find out what wheel has a pulsation hesitation. then pull that brake caliper off and clean and re grease the gliders that alow it to slide back and forth and cut that 1 rotor. most likeley you will need to do this to both sides and replace the pads plus check the caliper pistons that they move freely. so to sum it up you might need a complete brake job.

96. Could be the brake switch died. Do you have a high mount brake light in the back? If so, does it work? If it doesn't it is the brake switch. mounted by the brake pedal. If it does, then it is the turn signal switch that needs replaced.

My 96 ford windstars mastercylinder is always running low, brake and abs lites come on, still there is no leaks???
Hi, there must be a leak. Have you checked the rear wheel slave cylinders? These can leak onto the rim and the fluid get slung out on the road without ever creating a puddle.

1. my 96 ford windstar's tail lights dont work, but the bulbs are ok. 2 I want to change my rear brake shoes; are there any special tools I need?
If tail lights don't work, check your dimmer switch for any shorts. If the brake lights don't work, then check the brake switch behind the brake pedal. You can test them with a multitester.
For brake shoes you need socket or star wrench, and needle nose pliers for the springs unless you have a spring too. If you have disc brakes, then socket set and a c-clamp to push the pistons back in.

1996 Ford Windstar 3.8 V-6. Mechanic says the motor is shot. He said that this engine is not interchangeable with any other year...is this true? I was hoping to put a motor in from a 98 Windstar.
I would also check with any salvage yard they will be able to tell you.

96 ford windstar abs brakes-sometimes when braking the pedal gets hard and vehicle doesn't stop well. It makes noise-eeerrrrrrr. How do I diagnose problem? Let off brake and put on again and it is ok.
i would check your pads for wear first , they may need replacing and the brake fluid. after you do this let me know how it goes.

Can a 96 Ford Windstar Air Conditioner Compressor Pump Fit in a 98 Windstar?
The compressor is the same but it may have a different pulley and the plug may be indexed on the wrong side. If you have a set of snap ring pliers you can put your coil and pulley on that compressor or it may already be the same ones just make sure you put the plug where it is on your original compressor.
