My 2001 Saab 9-5 won't start at all, I tried jump starting it and it turned on flawlessly, but when I disconnect the jumping cables from the battery the car turns off. It can't be the battery because I just replaced it about a 8 months ago. Please help, any information would be useful, thanks.

I had the same problem with mine and it turned out to be the key switch.

SOURCE: 2003 Saab 9-3 won't start. Battery appears to be fine.

You could try tapping the starter and/or having it checked by a mechanic. If the vehicle is starting once in a while, have a mechanic check the Crank Shaft Position Sensor located on the Intake Manifold under an aluminum bracket. The wire to the sensor leads towards the throttle body. the connector at the throttle body is blue. This sensor is notorious for giving out gradually. If this is the problem, seriously replace it as the vehicle could die when driving (i've heard, but don't quote me on that). I owned a 2001 9-3 turbo and the same thing would happen until it no longer cranked. I replaced it when i researched the issue on the internet. The car turned on as soon as i replaced it 8) and did not have the same problem again.

Good luck!

Look for a lose connection at the crank shaft sensor. This is a signal needed for obtaining tachometer as well as turning on the fuel pump.

99 Saab 9-5 2.3t will crank and almost start with jump but only gets power when jumped

Check the battery and make sure the connections are clean and tight. If you are grounding the negative jumper to the engine instead of the battery, then make sure the ground from the battery is good.

'01 SAAB 9-5 won't jump start

Are you sure you had the polarity right on the jumper cables? Some cars had positive ground, you know!

Whatever the polarity, you may have a bad ground ... such as rust at the connection. Try measuring with a voltmeter between one battery terminal and ground, then the other battery terminal and ground. Do the same measurements between the battery and the engine block. If you get a difference, you have found the problem! There is also a possibility that the vehicle had a "fusable link" which is designed to burn out if there is an overload!

Lights flash when trying to jump start a saab 9000

Read the owner's manual about jump starting. It may be different than 'normal' cars. Also, the lights flashing is probably related to the car's alarm needing reset. .....again read the owner's manual for more info.

I went to start my 2005 PT Cruiser and got a loud clicking sound and it won't turn over. Is it the starter?

probably not sounds like either a dead or weak battery or bad connections on the battery posts. first take battery cables loose clean terminals and hook back up hopefully then it will start. or use jumper cables and see if it will jump start. if it jump starts then you no its not starter.if it doesnt jump stsrt then clean posts and cable ends and try again. hope this helps. best of luck

Hi there !

I won't say its an alternator problem because the alternator only charges the battery when its on, And it should start with the jump cables even if the battery and the alternator are bad. your Issue is not clear. Does the car start when you jump it ?

Won't start

Have your alternator check, sound like it's not charging your battery. When your battery is too low the car won't start even on a jump.
