audi a4, lights seem to be flashing im told, and when i go to start it later, the battery is dead, why does it do this?

- this is my husband's car but the electrical systems completely shut down when he was driving it a few days ago. he had the alternator replaced and it drove fin on the hour ride back from the service station. i drove it this mornign and it was fine but i just tried it again and the engine turns over but the lights are flashing and it makes a loud beeping noise. this continued even after i took the car out of the ignition! i don't know how i was finally able to get it to stop, but it did after 5 minutes of putting the key in, taking it out and locking and unlocking the doors. what's up???- GuestYes
