Hi DALE,HERE'S A LINK TO YOUR CODE AND POSSIBLE CAUSES,THE SENSOR IS BANK I,SENSOR,WHICH MEANS IT'S ON THE SIDE WITH CYLINDER I AND 2 SENSOR WHICH IS LOCATED BY CATALATIC CONVERTER,HERE'S A LINK TO YOUR FIRING ORDER.fIRST LOOK AT SENSOR AND WIRING TO SEE IF ANYTHING IS OUT OF PLACE,LOOSE WIRE OR DAMAGED SENSOR,ALWAYS USE EXACT FIT ONES,NO WIRE SPLICING.

The Firing Order

Well upstream from the Catalatic Converter means towards the engine and that would be the location for Sensor #1 on both sides of the engine. And Downstream would be away from the engine past the Catalatic Converter For Sensor #2 on both sides of the engine. Bank 1 or Bank 2 would indicate which side of the engine the trouble is on. ( Bank #1 is the side of the engine that contains #1 Cylinder. Please remember if you are going to change one 02 Sensor then you should change all of them and be sure to clear all codes after all repairs are finished. that will turn the check engine light off. Good Luck and have a good XMASS.
The Catalatic Converter on Bank #2 needs to be replaced because the Catalyst inside the converter is no longer doing its job. Good Luck and have a good XMASS.
#1 When you replace 02 sensors you should always replace all of them. Otherwise the new 02 sensor will be returning its Data back to the computer faster than the other old ones and this in itself may cause problems. #2 the P0420 indicates that the Catalysts System Efficiency is below the threshold on bank #1 And yes put in all new sensors and that means bank 1 sensor #2 as well. And then if the P0420 code returns replace the Catalatic converter on Bank#1.Please let me know the results. Good Luck and have a good XMASS.
its the O2 Sensor, depending on what bank its on, depends what one needs changed.. bank 1 or A is the sensor on the exhaust closes to the engine, and if its bank 2, or B its the sensor on the exhaust closest to the catalatic converter.... or it could say upstream or downstream, the upstream is the one closest to the engine, the downsream is the one by converter. hope this helps
That means Catalyst System Efficiency Below Threshold (Bank 1)
In other words you are polluting the air more than normal, this wont damage the car, but you will get in troubles if you have to go through an emission test.
hey if you truely think it is your egr valve unhook it and if that is the problem then when it is unhooked it should run better and the codes should not come up. hey if you cahnged the 1 o2 sensor and not the other you probably made the code for the one u repalced come up again. i would recommened that you change both of the o2 sensors at the same time. try checking if your catalatic convert is plugged. how you do this is take a dollar bill and hold it at the end of your tail pipe while it is idleing and if the dollar bill stays still you have a plugged catalatic converter.
