Thanks for the info. You are correct there are holes in the pump pulley for removal of power steering pump which is neccessary to get the last bolt out of the water pump.Fortuneately there are only 2 bolts holding the powere steering pump on and they are at 12 and 6 oclock in case any one else was having the same problem removing the water pump.

There should be holes in power steering pump pulley that when positioned correctly the bole should go through one of those holes, if not then you have to remove the pump

I almost have the water pump off but there is one bolt that is behind the power steerng pulley that I can not remove. I was wondering how to remove the power steering pulley?

To remove the pulley wheel from the power steering pump you typically have to remove 3 bolts but to get to those 3 bolts you have to use a socket and go through the holes on the pulley itself.

I have a 2000 Monte Carlo SS 3800 V6. It was driving fine last night and now the steering is tight it will barely turn. The power steering fluid isn't low. What could be the problem?

well if u mean its hard to turn then i would suspect its the power steering pump is bad just because its not low on fluid doesnt mean its not bad

Cannot get water pump on 305 v-8 Monte Carlo to loosen from engine

There is only 4 bolts that hold the pump to the block If you have the 4 bolts removed then hit the hub that the water pump pulley goes on with a hammer. some times you may have to hit it 3 or 4 good whacks. Hope this helps.

Water pump

On the 3.4.... Drain coolant, remove drive belt guard, loosen pulley bolts, remove drive belt, remove pulley, remove water pump. Good idea to check the belt for cracks or wear when doing the pump replacement. Reverse the procedure to install.
