The heater only blows cold air it switches from vents defrost and floor like it should but all i get is cold air
Check whether any hot water flows in the heater hoses which are located between the engine and the firewall .If you to have the feeling hot water and not hot air in the cabin means either you do have blocked Matrix,or the circulation flow valve stuck to cold flow.
* Start the engine first and leave it for 5 minutes running till get to temperature and then check *

Your blend door actuator may have packed up. My manual says you have dual controls--true? If yes, is it cold on both sides?
Remove the silencer from beneath the driver side end of the instrument panel and take a look at the actuators. #4 and #6 are for the blend doors. Can you see if the little axle is rotating when you change the temp setting? If you can't tell, take one off and see if you can rotate the door by hand and get warm air to come out. If not, perhaps you have air in the cooling system. Check your coolant level and refill if needed. Then let's have a discussion about where your coolant may be leaking. OK?

Check both heater hoses under hood to see if they get hot, if they do the heater is fine. need to check to see if the selection doors inside the unit are opening and closing.
SOURCE: heat only blows out of dash vents, will not blow out of defroster
vvacum leak. in back of your temp control unit there is a series of vaum lines attached together they might even be in different colors these lines go to the vent and they open and close them when you slide the lever over this piece needs to be replaced
SOURCE: air will not blow out the vents
Sounds like the hvac doors are not moving when the dial is switched. These are usualy vaccum operated and the switch is under the dash behind the glove compartment. You probably need a service manual to know which lines run the door that controls where the air comes out, but you might only have a vaccum line pulled loose.

usually you have a leak in the system low on freon this dual system take more than 2 pound of freon second the blower works only on high you need the blower motor risistor usually it is mounted next to the blower motor
