Remove Check each Glow plug for good element. Check the relay is working.

Testimonial: "Hi there Bill, I have changed all 4 glow plugs and the relay and there is still no power to the plugs! Can it be anything else do you know?"

  • Bill Boyd Nov 02, 2013

The power comes from the ignition switch through a fues to the relay to activate the relay. The relay closes and the power comes from the battery through a fuse to the relay out to the Glo-plugs.. Check fuses and check that whenm the relay is energised that the power wire to the plugs is alive.

Cheers Bill i will do. I'm guessing on the laguna II you mean the fuse box in the engine compartment with the large 50/60/70 amp fuses/relays and not the one in the drivers side dashboard. I have also heard they are prone to rubbing the wiring through! I will get straight to it as soon as it stops raining that is!! Thanks again Bill for your knowledge,Nigel.

Renault laguna 1.9 dci injection fault on dash but car performs fine

probally be a good idea to have a local shop run a fuel system check to eliminate alot of wasted time or money. its well worth the time to have it properly checked by a trained mechanic. alot of engine problems the computer picks up wont be noticed at first and can lead to expensive repairs

My renualt laguna 2003 2.2dci has a cold start problem, if i spray easy start into the air filter, it starts, what could be causing the problem? regards gary

i would suggest that the heater plugs in the engine are either faulty or not working, the can be checked if you know what you are doing, they basically act as a heater inside the engine when it is cold, if they are not working, a diesel engine relies on heat i ignite the fuel airmixture unlike a petrol engine that has a spark plug that ignits the fuel. if there is no heat the fuel air mixture will not ignite. Check that power is going to the heater plugs,it will be 12 volts, if there is remove the heater plugs(easier said than done) then check the heater plugs,(the engine can not be used when the heater plugs are removed). I would sugguest getting some one who knows how to check them if you are not sure, as you have to basically put 12v to them and they glow red hot at the tip.if they dont glow when wired up they are faulty, and change them all, about £40 a set if you shop around.
