1997 Saab 900S fault code P0705 shift-lock relay faulty. Does this require a new gear selector position sensor? What is this part, where does it go and is this the same as a neutral safety switch?

I assume you have an automatic transmission.

If so, this is the relay that does not allow you to shift from park into drive unless your foot is on the break. The actual solenoid is located under the shifter counsel. The relay itslef is in the fuse box and will be labeled as such.

since it's a bi-metal relay, try tapping on it a few times with the handle of a screwdriver.

To replace is simple and relatively cheap.

If the solenoid is bad (i.e. the relay still works) you will want to bring it to a saab specialist as this is tied into the anti-theft and you could end up disabling the car due to theft deterent system. it would then require a tech with a saab-specific computer to reset everything for you.

2007 Hyundai elantra code Po700 and P0705, what would be the proper order of cheapest repair i.e. replace gear shift selector? replace transmission relay? change oil?

What you need to do for these codes is remove the transmission range sensor and test it with an ohmmeter. A good mechanic can do this for you.

Starting problems

faulty crank position sensor is likely. No pulse from sensor to ECU, no activation of fuel pump, no fuel no start. The insulation in the inductive coil of the sensor breaks , and the sensor fails with age.

Radio code for 1997 saab 900s

I'm afraid if you don't have the code, you will have to take it to a local dealer or specialist radio store to have it re-coded.

Fortunately, it's not expensive.
