Repair leak in rear AC lines

HELP !!! Please. 1996 Chev Suburban; 1500K; 350 cu inch; 4WD; rear A/C & heater.I have a leak of "green A/C fluid" under rocker panel of right rear side where the 2 heater lines and 2 A/C lines go back to rear AC. The rubber "grommets" that hold the lines in place seem to have "hex" screws in them; not certain. However, I want to cut away about2 or 3 feet of each A/C line & replace with either high-pressure flex hose OR new line section using rubber hose connectors on all 4 "joints". Will either or both approaches work? Which would be recommended? (I don't want to pay for the 90 feet of pre-cut AC lines at a parts store nor go thru process of "snaking" it all under car nor all connections and bracings.) THANKS !!Howard - -- [email protected] ---- 04-28-2009

There is a web site called www.acblockkits.com and the have a/c line repair kits and rear a/c block off kits for just about any vehicle readily available. I repaired my corroded lines last year and it took about 20 minutes and the rear a/c has been working great ever since. HIGHLY recommend this web site!!!

Thanks for this solution!! www.acblockkits.com I got a a/c line repair kit and a block off kit for 2 of my vehicles this past month (one had too many issues to try and repair it) they were both very easy to install and have been working great ever since. Saved me over $1100 for the repairs from the garage

The green is floursent dye. not antifreeze. you can replace the line and use compression fittings as mst are rated well over the 300 max possible psi. you can also use copper of the same diameter. did it last year on my 98 burb cause the lines cost to much

If it is green then it is antifreeze and that fix you are talking about will work just fine. A/c uses freon and is not green, make sure that you don't cut the a/c lines!!

What is the box under left cargo door? And why is it leaking fluid? 2002 Ford windstar

What color is the fluid? Is the vehicle equipped with rear AC and are you using it? If the fluid is water, suspect it to be from the rear AC unit if equipped and most probable cause would be a plugged drain hose from the evap core to the outside of the vehicle. If fluid is green \orange and the vehicle has rear heat, suspect a leaking heater core for the rear heat

Locate AC drain line

ac drain pipes are on the passenger side front floor area (just about where your feet go) under car when cars heater core gets a hole in it lots of times antifreeze will leak inside car on floor try to get a small sample of fluid thats leaking out with a tissue or something (white In color) see what color fluid is ,see if fluid is slippery like oil or not (rub it between fingers)
Antifreeze= orange or green in color
Transmission oil = red or brown
motor oil = brown to black
washer fluid = Blue or drk orange
ac condesate= clear water (cold)

What's your problem?I have a 1996 Chevrolet Suburban. The AC is blowing out hot air. I have had the truck for 6 years, every Summer its the same thing. The ac does not get cold, I take it to the m

To clarify - - if the truck has rear and heat, you have two heater cores and two evaporator cores. The evap cores carry the freon.
If the leak is in the evap core in the front, the price is probably right.

Rear fluid leaking in Suburban after backing into telephone pole

Yes, sorry, that's what I meant. When you have a rear heater system, they usually incorporate (use) another heater core, similar to one under dash for heat, in rear . I'm thinking you have Pink type antifreeze in your radiator & cooling system return bottle, and that's what feeds that heater core in rear as well as front, for heat. It's usually located behind the rear side panel in back of the Suburban.
Better check your coolant level in engine too, it is probably going down, as much as your leaking, and you don't want to cook the engine.
