Changing alternator, 2000 grand caravan

How do you get the altrenator out of a 2000 grand caravan? i have read "thru the left?right wheel well" or "remove the wiper assembly" Looks like the wiperassembly is more likly but what are the steps? "where IS that hidden bolt?" does it just lift out after removing the two bolts or is there more?

thanks would like to do this myself but if its less hassel AAA is on speed dial

got a step out of sequence need to remove the lower bolt and than take the wires off because you can't reach them until the ALT can be moved around

Disconnect battery, remove belt, take off wipers, remove tray holding wiper drive parts, there is a plug, 2 drains, and washer hose to disconnect, remove trianglar plate on top of the ALT, including the top ALT bolt, push ALT to the back, remove wires, remove lower ALT bolt, rotate ALT to the spot between the engine, strut tower, AC line, and fuel line, it will come out through this spot. The hook shaped bracket stays in place and in the way. This was a 2000 grand caravan 3.8 with AC. all bolt/screws are fairly accesible

Belt won't tighten on 98 dodge caravan. Does the

If the alternator is fixed then its the tension pulley that tightens the belt. but if the alternator is mounted with a pivotal pin and can be moved along a bolt slot, then it's the alternator that tightens the belt.

Battery good alternator good could it be pcm on 2000 dodge grand caravan

Using a volt meter, you need to measure the voltage across the the batt. terminals when the engine is running. you should read near 14.5 volts DC (or more) if the alternator(charging circuit) is working. WARNING be real careful of moving fans, belts and hot parts.

Can you get to the alternator through the right wheel well?

On this car some alternators are at the top some are at the bottom depending on the engine. You can't get at it thru the wheel well but you can get them from the top of the engine compartment ,or from under the car. The main thing to remember is that after you remove the serpentine belt the alternator is removed by turning the pulley in order to get your wrench thru the holes in the pulley, and onto the holding bolts. I have heard to many stories of the plastic pulley's being broken because wrenches were forced in behind the pulley's. The other wires can easily be removed. Remember disconnect your battery. Please let me know if I've helped you ,and don't forget to vote. GOOD LUCK .

How do I change the drivers side front turn signal bulb on my 2000 Grand Caravan?

There are bolts under the hood on top of the plastic housing. If you look at the light cover you can see where it connects to the body. Either the bulb twists into the housing and all you have to do is twist it out (to the left or right) or you have to unscrew the housing pull it off and change the bulb then put the housing back on. Hope this helps, James Booth. PLEASE RATE THIS!!! :))

2000 Dodge Caravan tranmission started making a clicking sound only in 1st gear. Otherwise drives fine. What could be wrong?

you need to have the CV axle shafts checked, the clicking sound is the first sign of a bad one,you need to turn the steering wheel one way sharp wile accelerating, then the other way,so you can determine if left axle or right.

I need to change the alternator on my 2000 dodge grand caravan sport. Can someone please tell me how to release tension on the serpentine belt? Thank You.

I have to use a 15mm open/closed end wrench on the tensioner pulley. Use the closed end of the 15mm and pull toward you and use the end of a cresent wrench to use for additional torque. You can slip the belt over the fixed pulley (not the tensioner pulley). Give yourself more room by not using the hood bar and use instead a broomstick on the right side to prop the hood open. I recommend a goodyear gator belt too. Good Luck, you'll need it with a caravan. Its on the left side. its the easyest pully to see.

Rear wheel

does the van shake or vibrate? does the van have tires on it ?start by switching the left rear with the right rear test drive and listen for soun if no sound then the tire has a bad steel belt replace tire if the sound is still present. jack up van and spin tire if no sound is heard replace wheel bearing and if there is still a sound look into brake drum for possible springs or clips that may have fallen into drum causing noise but i would say its more than likely the rear wheel bearing to change that u must buy a new bearing and follow instructions on replacing good
