Paired cylinders missing after restart

My 1990 olds 88, 3.8v6 runs great. Usually if I start and drive it runs fine, but if I stop and then restart 2 cylinders won't work. Before now it would clear up but lately it is getting worse. The cylinders that misfire are the pair fired by the top portion of the coil. About 6 months ago the ignition module was leaking goo so I replaced it, which helped but then I replaced the coil and it was running fine until recently. The plugs are good and I replaced the wires, no improvement. In the last few days it has started to miss even if I don't stop and restart. The module seems extrememly hot, but it is essentially mounted to the head. Could it be overheating?

Resistance check the coil. The top two, the middle two, and the bottom two should be the same resistance between the plug wire towers

Engine misfires on start up sometimes. Runs fine then starts missing again. It's usually after shut off and restart.

i think you may have a leaking injector or dribble into the cylinders, on start up the ecu should push x fuel into all cylinders to start but if one is not working properly it may cause this fault

Engine chugging

Hi!
I'm not there in person to see specifically what's going on underneath the hood, though I can tell that there are six (6) common causes of a car's hesitation as you accelerate, and they include the following: 1) EC system malfunction; 2) EGR system malfunction; 3) accelerator pump malfunction; 4) carburetor float malfunction; 5) vacuum hose damage; or 6) engine gasket damage. All of these are explained very well in a very handy diagnostic article at the following link:
http://yourhandymanzone.com/Your_Handyman_Zone_How_To_Pages_Vehicle_Car_Zone_Cars_Trucks_Vans_Engine_System_Engine_Hesitates_When_Accelerating.htm

Eliminate these probable causes, one by one, and you'll find your applicable hesitation cause. This should definitely help you solve your problem. Good luck! Brad

Install hotter plugs and run it harder between stops. Also check your fuel pressure regulator.
