Most transmission dip sticks are just pushed in through an "o" ring seal and are held in place by a tag welded to the tube and bolted to the engine/ transmission housing.

Where is fill to add automatic trans fluid to 2008 BMW 650i under the hood?

The automatic transmission fluid fill location on a 2008 BMW 650i can vary depending on the specific model and transmission type, but generally it is located under the hood and accessed through a dipstick tube.

To locate the dipstick tube for the automatic transmission fluid, follow these steps:

1. Open the hood of the vehicle and locate the transmission fluid dipstick. The dipstick handle is usually yellow, red, or black and is labeled with "ATF" or "trans."
2. Remove the dipstick from the tube and wipe it clean with a lint-free cloth or paper towel.
3. Reinsert the dipstick all the way back into the tube and then remove it again. The fluid level on the dipstick should indicate the current level of transmission fluid.
4. If the fluid level is low, you will need to add automatic transmission fluid. To add fluid, remove the dipstick and use a funnel to pour the fluid into the dipstick tube. Be sure to use the correct type of transmission fluid specified in your owner's manual.
5. Check the fluid level again with the dipstick to make sure it is at the correct level. Add more fluid as needed.

Note: It is important to follow the recommended procedure for checking and adding transmission fluid to your BMW 650i to avoid overfilling the system, which can cause damage to the transmission. If you are unsure about the location of the dipstick or how to properly add fluid, consult your owner's manual or a qualified mechanic for assistance.

88' ford econoline transmission dipstick tube is leaking. How do i tighten or replace this tube?

The dipstick tube should have an o-ring near the bottom where it goes into the transmission case. Once you remove the bolt holding the bracket for the tube you should be able to pull the tube up and out. You should then have access to the o-ring.

Transmission fluid leak ,most on top of tranny

This is how to service your transmission. Ensure to follow these steps to check the existing level to see in fact how much fluid your losing and if your at risk of a blown tranny with little to no fluid
  • Drive the car for several miles or until the engine has reached its normal temperature, as indicated by the temperature gauge. Position the vehicle on a flat surface, shift the transmission to the "Park" position and apply the parking brake.Raise the hood and allow the vehicle to idle.

  • Withdraw the transmission's dipstick. The dipstick features a T-shaped handle with the words "Trans. Fluid" stamped into the top of the handle.Wipe the dipstick clean of any transmission fluid with a clean shop rag. As the vehicle is driven, transmission fluid may splash onto the dipstick, resulting in a false fluid level reading.Insert the dipstick into its tube until the handle rests securely against the top of the tube, then withdraw the dipstick and note the fluid level. The fluid level should be at or just below the "Warm Full" mark stamped into the dipstick. If the level is low, fluid must be added.Add Mercon V transmission fluid in small increments to avoid overfilling the transmission. Insert a funnel into the top of the dipstick tube, then pour the transmission fluid into the funnel, periodically checking the fluid level on the dipstick.

How do you put transmission fluid in a 2001 Ford Excursion

first read your owners manual so you know exactly what type of transmission fluid and how to read the dipstick. Make sure you know the difference between the oil dipstick and the transmission dipstick. Buy a long narrow funnel at the parts store where you buy the fluid. It will have to fit into the transmission dipstick tube. Add fluid through the transmission dipstick tube. This is not something that must be done often, unless you have a serious leak somewhere. You are at 10 years, if your tranny is slipping, be prepared to get it rebuilt.

Where do i pour transmission fluid

Always check the transmission fluid with the engine hot (after driving) and while the car is idling and in park.

Pour the transmission fluid, using a funnel, into the tube where the transmission dipstick is. The dipstick handle is usually the RED one.

Do not overfill the transmission fluid, as this could cause it to come out into the engine compartment thru the filler/dipstick tube when it becomes hot and potentially catch on fire.

    Good luck

I do not have the owner's manual and need to know how to fill the ATF resorvoir.

ATF (Automatic Transmission Fluid) is added to the transmission through the dipstick tube. First make sure that you are checking the fluid level correctly:

Start the engine and let the engine warm up for a minute or two.
Then pull the dipstick from the ATF dipstick tube and wipe it clean; reinsert it back into the tube, paying close attention that you are inserting it all the way down until the tube is sealed again.
Then remove the dipstick and check the level of fluid on the dipstick, with attention to the fluid level markings on the dipstick.
Do this several different times to make sure you are getting accurate readings, as some transmissions make it difficult to REMOVE fluid, in case of overfilling.
If you DO add any, add just a little at a time, and permit time for the fluid to settle, so you can get accurate readings of the dipstick fluid level.
Constantly recheck to make sure you do not overfill your transmission.

    Hope this helps.

While driving the car jerks and the rpms jumps from 2 to 3 and then back to 2. it seems like the trans. is slipping

    hi,
if its an automatic transmission, it may need fluid. look closely under the hood for the transmission fluid dipstick, it may be somewhat hidden. check the owners manual for location. leave the engine running and put the car in park, sert the parking brake, take the dipstick out, wipe it off and replace. remove it a second time for your reading, it should right between the two marks, look closely on both sides of the dipstick the exact directions for the car may be written on it. if it doesent show any fluid on the dipstick, you can safely add 1 quart of automatic transmission fluid to the hole where the dipstick came out of using a funnel, check level again and add slowly now untill its right in between the marks. put a piece of cardboard under the car at night to see if its leaking and where. there are small transmission cooler lines that sometimes become loose that go from the transmission to the side of the radiator, study tighten those hose clamps down on the tubes. sometimes the ends of the flexible tubes become worn out, you can replace or cut off the bad areas of the tubes, reattach and tighten securely..
    good luck
