My roof rack on my 97 gmc yukon has pulled out of the roof. There are small "1/4 inch" posts that go through the roof but I can't figure out how they stay in there.

My roof rack didn't pull off but it is leaking at the rear driver's side mount. One of the screws will not tighten up enough to seal the hole. All of the pieces appear to be metal, I really don't see how this ever did keep water out of the truck. Does anyone know if there is a better replacement or how to remove these from the roof and keep water out without damaging the truck?
I saw another post about a Jeep Wagoneer that made reference to an improved part (# 34201672) for this same problem . You can see the part at the link below: http://www.tek-ed.com/tek-ed/pictures/ri...

With a scanner that can control output
Look for TPS % data
If it shows 1 or 2 % (no fuel pedal depress)
Reset it
It must read 0 % (no fuel pedal depress)
Run the engine to check if the problem is solved.
They vary. Most Yukons and Tahoes had standard 6" (or 5-3/4") front door woofers and 1" tweeters in panels on the door switch clusters in 2-door models, and in 4-door models, those plus an additional pair of 6" (or 5-3/4") 2-way speakers in the back passenger doors, and in 2- and 4-door models with the premium sound package, they also had 4X10 oval speakers in the rear roof by the cargo door(s). These 4X10's were 3-way speakers.
Removing roof rail mount can cause roof damage. And i think you just be careful while removing rail mount. You just need the screw driver and obviously little bit of effort. And in case you make your roof damaged then you should quickly apply Liquid Roofing Liquid Roof AND RV Roof Coatings
I found mine today as I was having an issue with water leaking onto the passenger floor board as well as spitting from the air vents. The drain line is just beneath the aluminum a/c canister on the passenger's side rear firewall. (under the hood) It took a bit to locate it and it's only about 1 and 1/2 inches long and "L" shaped. It can be easily pulled off. I then took a piece of coat hanger and stuck it into the opening which then released a ton of water that had been trapped inside. This fixed my issue. Good luck!
Everything I'm reading indicates there are "rack fitment points" where you will have the room to insert the cross bars. I'd get a tall ladder and look carefully along the entire rail and maybe feel with your fingers for a point that is slightly different. That should be the place you can insert the slats.
My 97 yukon did the same thing (I believe). The valve body in the transmisson wears out (design problem) and causes the transmission to shift really hard. My repair was about $500 (nondealer).
LOVE MY YUKON!
