With the key off, on your instrument cluster, hold in the dial that resets the trip odometer, turn the ket to the on position. Keep holding the dial down for about 10-15 seconds and the maintenance light should eventually turn off.

I have 2006 Toyota Crolla since three days the maint reqd light is on could you please advise me on this ? best regards Sultan from Afghanistan

The maintenance required light just means that some sort of scheduled maintenance needs to be done. Most of the time it just means you need an oil/filter change. Your owner's manual will list what maintenance is required based on your milage. This light is not the same as the Check Engine light which means that something is wrong with the emissions system.

My 2008 Corolla the (Maint reqd light) on and I fill power steering fluid, brake fluid and change oil before it should be change but the maint reqd light still on and I don't know what else to check.

You usually need to have the vehicle taken to the dealership so they can perforn the required maintenence. The light being on doesnt mean that there is a problem with anything, it means that the computer knows how many miles are on the car in relation to the manufacturers maintenence schedule. If you absolutely believe you have fixed the problem you can attempt to turn the light off by disconnecting the negative battery cable for 10-15 minutes so the capasitors can discharge. If the computer determines that the maintenence item is not taken care of it will turn the light back on and you will need to take it to Toyota. I hope this helps you, if so would you please mark as solved and leave a rating?

Thank you!

Main reop light in dash

Hello, and welcome to FixYa.

The 'Maint Reqd' light indicates that you are due for an oil change. It will blink 4,500 miles since the light was reset at your last oil change, and stay on steady after 5,000 miles.

If you recently had an oil change, all you need to do is reset your maintenance reqd lamp. The procedure is here on this site inthe 'tips and tricks' section, and it is also in your owner's manual.

TOYOTA SIENNA MAINT REQD LITE CAME ON AFTER SCHEDULE MAINTANANCE

If the dealer/mechanic did the service early the light will come on when service is DUE. Go back to him and have it turned off. Search the web someone may have the procedure posted. Usually simple. Google "Toyota service light reset" or "Toyota Maintence light reset" Try this one
  1. With the car started (ignition on), set the LCD odometer readout to total mileage (not trip A or B).
  2. Turn the car off (ignition key to the OFF position).
  3. Push in AND HOLD the button/knob that switches the odometer
  4. Turn key to ON position without starting the car. You will notice the maintenance light blink and go out.
  5. Release the odometer button/knob.
  6. Turn key to OFF position.
  7. That's it! The "MAINT REQD" light has been reset to warn you to change your oil in another 5,000 or 7,500 miles or so.

The maintenance reqd light flashed and then remained on...is this a critical issue? my used car (2006 corolla) did not come w/ owner's manual.

It depends on what the trouble code is. Some codes are minor problems while others are major.

Your car has the OBD II on board diagnostic system. Take the car to an auto supply dealer and ask them to read the trouble code. (Most places do this for no charge.) They can then tell you what the problem is and likely give you information about the fix for it.

Revised procedure (for Highlander)

Turn ignition key to 'ON' and press the odometer button until the display reads actual mileage... not Trip A or B.

Turn ignition key to OFF.

Hold in the same button you used in step 1.

While holding the button in, turn ignition key to 'ON'.

The 'Maint Reqd' light should blink and go out.
