2001 automatic chevy truck Z71 not shifting out of 2nd gear

I just changed my radiator and this problem started the day after i replaced it. When I put my truck into drive it does not shift after it reaches about 25 mph. If I start in 1st and manually shift to 2nd it will shift and I can go about 40mph....BUT as soon as i try to shift to 3rd or drive the RPMs increase and it won't shift. So what's the deal with my transmission??? Is this something I could fix myself instead of taking it in?? I thought it could be just some sort of electric switch that needs to be changed out....

    Yes, I've added fluid...any other suggestions before i pay an arm and a leg?

    have the same problem but changed the automatic transmission solinoir but still the same thing - need to know how to reset the computer in it to see if that help - Please advise

1 st did you fill the transmission after radiator replace ment some lines go to the rad. when you loose fluid it needs to be added and checked. Other wise it sounds like a trans needs to bo serviced.

    My 1st step would be to go to a parts store and get a flushing agent to add into trans (one that would cleaan debris out) and some trans fluid to change after running vehicle for a few minutes. Follow the directions on the bottle exactly.

I have a 2006 Chevy Silverado 1500 z71 it has a 4l60-e trans want shift out of 1st gear until around 5500rpms and you hold it and will not shift out of 2nd gear when in 2nd gear and when I try to drop down...
If you have used the vehicle like that for as little as
a few days, you stand little chance of saving the trans
from a complete rebuild

You need a trans shop or a place you like & trust to
road test & diagnose

I think your beyond a solenoid or module fix, since
you have been using it & it slips as well ,instead of
proper shifting

1994 gmc Z71 4x4 automatic.****** will not shift out of 2nd gear.What's up?
Shift modulator on the transmission may be bad, or clogged filter. Maybe time to changed oil and filter. Also a simple adjustment on the trans kickdown cable, or a new cable. The cable can stretch enough to cause a shifting problem.

2001 chevy z71 4x4 got the co236 rear wheel speed circuit, i replaced both vss sensors now agrevated did nothing has a brand new jasper rebuilt tranny showing abs light and parking brake light will stay...
sounds more like a tranny speed sensor if not shifting

1995 Chevy 1500 Z71...transmission only shifts from 1st to 2nd gear if you let off the throttle abruptly after getting the rpm up pretty high. Then after it shifts into 2nd it will shift normally.
It sounds like a vacumm modulator issue.
