Look on ths side the transmission is located on, and look for a yellow handled dipstick. It should be on the front of the transmission somewhere

you have no dipstick in the manual trans. it's non-maintenance kinda system and its sealed.
unless it's leaking you don't need service.

SOURCE: were would the transmission dipstick

It is the same as the Lincoln LS and Tbird - no dipstick. Have to removethe vehicle speed sensor to check. Trans engineers don't want you to touch trans & expose it to foreign matter.

2008 Toyota Tacoma-automatic. Transmission fluid was drained in error thinking it was oil outlet. Where does new transmission fluid go in? Manual does not provide this specific info.

Trans fluid goes in the same tube the transmission dipstick sticks into. You'll need a funnel with a narrow bottom opening (1/2" or less). Make sure you pour it in the transmission dipstick tube, and not the engine oil dipstick tube. ;)
Initially, try to add about 3/4 of the estimated amount that you accidentally drained, then slow fill the remainder while checking level at different stages.
Also, try not to overfill. Check fluid level often, with engine running, in park or neutral, as you re-fill it.

Saturn vue 2005 2.2 L Engine auto transmission fluid refill plug?

automatic transmissions are filled by 2 methods
1-- through the dipstick tube
or
2 if sealed ( no dipstick ) by a measured amount being pumped in by special equipment at a transmission specialist shop
if there is no dipstick , you will have to get the vehicle to a service shop that can refill it

My Astra holden has 2 dipsticks one i know is for oil level the other just a /14 inch from the oil dipstick is my question , what is the second dipstick for??

Might you have an automatic transmission?
Automatic transmissions have their own dipstick.
I don't know about Aussies, but here in the states, transmission fluid has red die added to it to prevent your mixing them, and to tell you whether it is engine oil or transmission fluid that is leaking.
If you mix them by mistake, you must drain them and put in the correct fluid, or suffer ruining the engine or transmission, which ever one has the wrong fluid.
Your oil light should not be coming on. That is a different problem.
Oh, yes. There may be a dipstick on the power steering pump it you have power steering, but it should be really small. (short)

Hyundie 1300 Accent Hatchback year of manufacture 2000. Is the transmission lubricated via the engine or is it separate and filled manually.

Hi,
Off course! The engine oil is different from tranny lubrication! Fill the engine oil via engine oil cap. If u have an automatic transmission, check the level of ATF by looking at the transmission dipstick. and fill it up via dipstick tube. If you have a manual tranny, check the gear oil via inlet nut under the transmission.
Hope that clears everything!

How do you properly check the transmission fluid?

To check your automatic transmission fluid, look for a dipstick handle sticking out of your transmission. This is located toward the rear of an in-line engine on vehicles with rear-wheel drive as shown here:

emissionwiz_76.jpg If your vehicle has front-wheel drive, the transmission fluid dipstick is sticking out of the transaxle, as shown here.

emissionwiz_77.jpg To check your automatic transmission fluid, follow these steps:
  1. Pull out the dipstick.

With the gearshift in Neutral or Park and the parking brake on, let your engine run. Be sure the engine is warm when you pull out the dipstick. (Don't turn off the engine.)

  2. Check the fluid.

Dip the tip of your index finger into the fluid on the dipstick and rub the fluid between your finger and the tip of your thumb. The transmission fluid on the dipstick should be pinkish and almost clear. If it looks or smells burnt or has particles in it, have a mechanic drain and change the fluid.

  3. Wipe the dipstick with a clean, lint-free rag; then reinsert it and pull it out again.

If the transmission fluid is clear but doesn't reach the "Full" line on the dipstick, use a funnel to pour just enough transmission fluid down the dipstick tube to reach the line. Don't overfill!

IS THERE A TRANSMISSION FLUID DIPSTICK FOR 1988 JEEP CHEROKEE 4X4? i CANNOT FIND IT ANYWHERE... ARGGG

does it have an automatic or manual transmission? If it's a manual transmission there is no dipstick. If It's a automatic transmission the dipstick should be located near the firewall of the vehicle where the transmission bolts up to the engine block and usually has a red handle to designate it as the transmission dipstick.
