I have a 1994 Ford Ranger with a v-6 4.0. The engine is wanting to rev up to 4-5000 at a stop light. Not quite sure what is causing that, but the high revs caused the radiator to blow out on the way home from work. I have the radiator coming in later this morning, but need to get the over rev issue solved.

Diane, There are 2 separate flashers on your vehicle, one is for the emergency/4 way lights and one flasher is for the signal lights. It may be worth the couple bucks and replacing the signal flasher as a first step. Recheck bulbs/sockets, fuses/relays, flasher. If all looks good possible signal switch is bad. Remove switch and try to clean contacts or replace switch. Check the attached links,instruction and guides, Good luck

Sounds like the gears are failing.

The idle air control motor may be defective/sticky. The computer gives it a command but doesn't realize the motor is not following the command and therefore no check engine light. You can remove the IAC and try to clean it with carb spray

If the switch is replaced,then it can be wiring issue or faulty cruise control board.But as the switch is replaced,get the voltage at the switch tested to confirm the switch is actually receiving voltage.If no voltage received at switch power supply wire then ,apply external 12 volt power to the cruise control switch wire and then see if cruise control comes ON.If yes,then you know wiring is issue.

You most likely have a vacuum leak. Look for a loose vacuum hose that didn't get replaced after last service. Find the source of the hiss and you'll find the leak. Read this post on some tips:

Is there somthing hitting the gas pedal, like the floor mat? Or maybe something under the dash came loose and is getting caught under the brake pedal and pushing on the gas. Put the shifter in neutral if you get into a situation where going to hit something or someone. The engine has a rev limiter, to prevent it from over reving.

unfortunatly stop leak products some time glog the fluid journals. try to change the filter and fluid and cross your fingers this helps

That could Be caused by the TFI module Located on the side of the distributor its grey module that requires a special tool to remove the two screws
