Fluttering Noise I have a 2007 Saturn ION, purchased brand new. About a year ago, I started hearing a noise coming from the rear of the car. It usually starts when I reach a speed of arounf 45 MPH (sometimes slower) and usually continues until I hit around 65 MPH. It starts as a rattling, and as I pick up speed, it gets louder and sounds more like a flag flapping in a high wind. I brought it to the dealership where it was purchased three times. The first time, the rear air vent was replaced and sealed. No help at all. The other times I was told they could not pinpoint the source of the sound. And someone there had the nerve to tell me that the noise is normal. I am about to get rid of this car, even though I still owe 2 1/2 years of payments and may have to eat the balance after the trade in value is figured in. But if I can get this fixed, I will probably keep the car another year or so. Any direction as to what the source of the sound may be would be greatly appraciated. Thank you.

Take the car back to the dealership and ask that the area rep become involved. keep track in writing (dates times and details) of any work or conversations that have taken place so far. but again escalate the issue to the area rep's attention.

Your wheel bearings need replaced, just replaced both front ones on my car,Then you will need to have your tires balanced, rotated and front end aligned.Mine was coming from my front driver side,it was loud, replaced, then the passenger side was making a noise, but not as loud, now it is like new.

I purchased a 2007 Aura XR. 3.6 L a month ago. The car only has 23,000 miles on it. I've been noticing a weird knock noise in the rear of the car while sitting stationary in park or in drive. It's...

I have a 2007 Saturn Aura with 3.6 L engine. Had it since new (now at 55,000mi) Here is what I found that may be what you are experiencing. Particularly in cold weather, after about 5 minutes of running a sharp "pop" occurs. Usually I just have one loud pop. I believe this is something in the exhaust system that expands and pops much like a cookie sheet put into the oven. As best I can tell, this is a harmless noise. As the car has gotten older it does this less frequently.
