Question about 1999 Pontiac Grand Am GT
What is the batteries voltage with the vehicle not running?
If less than 12v most likely the alternator can not keep up with a bad battery.
If you have a large steroe system installed make sure the Alternator can keep up with it.
Make sure the bely is tight and not dry-cracked and brittle as it may slip without making noise.
How do you know it is charging? You have 14.2v with it running? You test the Diods? Load test?
Make sure the battery light turns on when you turn the key on before you start the engine. if the bulb is burned out the signal to turn the alternator on will never reach it.
