Run fault codes and look for a TCM fault as it controls the shifting on the transmission.

Your transmission fluid contain water, thats why the colour of the fluid changed to pink. And of such the clutch is slipping causing the engine to reve up before shifting - Check transmission cooler.

Sounds like the shift kit is warn out in the transmission. The overdrive line may not be able to provide enough hydrolic pressure to engage the gears to move the truck. When you switch to regualr drive, that line is able to build the hydrolic pressure to engage the gears. At a certian speed (for the transmission, certian hydrolic pressure) there is enough pressure to engage the gears in overdrive, but go below that, and you have to start in drive again. If this is the case, there is no easy fix for that and I recomend taking it to a transmission shop to have your shift kit examined. Opening up an automatic transmission requires specalized tools, clean shop enviroment, and knowlage more then the average back yard machanic has.

It wont shift into overdrive the transmission has pressure I changed to fluids when I go to pass it wont shift into overdrive

strange as it may sound, transmissions do not shift into overdrive to pass
they down shift a ratio to get extra torque from the motor and will stay down shifted until the vacuum actuator shifts it back and only then when the VSS reports to the TCM that a ratio change up is needed will the overdrive click in
If you cannot get OD under any circumstances run the fault codes and check for a problem overdrive servo/ solenoid , TCM unit

How to switch on overdrive for mazda demio aletta

lots of mazda vehicles have a small button on the shifter, usually on the side or somewhere not very visible. Generally overdrive is actually ON and pressing the button will turn on a light that indicates Overdrive is OFF. since overdrive is kind of a passing gear - if you are going uphill or towing something and do not want the vehicle to shift to a higher, larger gear, you would turn overdrive OFF .

My o/d light came on and the and the rpm go s up and the trans... shifts out hard... friends say it the vss

is the speedometer still working when the vehicle acts up? if so the VSS is still working. the OVERDRIVE light coming on indicates a transmission problem. most likely a shift solenoid or trans temp sensor. first thing to do is make sure the fluid level is full. if it is , have someone check the computer for fualt codes.

When I come to a stop my 2002 ford ranger does not down shift. Its like its stuck in overdrive and it cuts off, stops running,or chokes off. When it first started doing this I could take it out of overdrive...

No, the problem is your torque converter clutch is getting stuck on. You can sometimes get it to stop this by flushing the system, but to fix it right usually requires a rebuild. On an older vehicle, I usually recommend just disconnecting the clutch solenoid to prevent it from engaging. This will result is slightly less fuel mileage, but the truck will no longer stall when stopping. This approach can also be used to put off repairs to a more convenient time. To execute this option, find the wiring harness to the transmission and cut the violet wire with a yellow stripe. Use electrical tape on the ends of the wire to prevent accidental operation. This will cause your malfunctions indicator (engine light) to illuminate, and the computer will store a trouble code on the TCC circuit, but there is no harm in leaving it this way. If the transmission is later repaired, the wire would be soldered back and the trouble code cleared. Please let me know if you have more questions, and thanks for using FixYa.

I have a 2002 beetle tdi. it will no longer shift into overdrive and has a little trouble shifting into 3rd. it started this suddenly on christmas eve....was driving down the hiway at 70 mph and suddenly...

Sounds like a valve body transmisson problem. You need to have it hooked up to a scan tool to see what the problem is exactly at your VW dealership.

Not shifting into passing gear

hi passing gear is actually your transmision drpping down to second gear.if you hit the gas hard.if you hit the gas lightly it will only drop out of overdrive and go into third and not go into passing gear.

2000 es300 lexus auto w overdrive button overdrive 4th gear not work

There isn't anything wrong with your car. This is perfectly normal. I have a 2000 ES300 as well as other people that I know and it operates in the same way. Overdrive doesn't mean the same thing for every car or transmission. In our case overdrive is simply a reference to the top gear which is 4th gear. When you switch overdrive off(which is depressing the button causing the O/D OFF dash light to illuminate,) the highest gear becomes 3rd because you turned 4th gear or overdrive off. The application scenario for this is usually mountainous terrain where a lot of uphill driving makes it more feasible not to up shift into 4th gear while ascending and descending. It will not switch back to overdrive or 4th gear until you re-engage it by turning the overdrive back on or repressing the button. Again, when the O/D OFF dash light is illuminated, overdrive which is 4th gear is off and the highest gear will then become 3rd. It will never shift into 4th gear while this light is illuminated or overdrive is off. When you press the button and the O/D OFF dash light is NOT illuminated overdrive is on and therefore it will shift into 4th gear as usual. This applies to all 97-2001 ES300's and probably any other car you drive tat exhibits this same type of change when overdrive is turned off.
