Tar like substance dripping from under the dashboard of a daewoo

Many sealants used around AC lines going thru the firewall can get old or hot and break down and drip. Some glass sealants will do this also. Locate source of goo, and clean it off with kerosene then replace with clear silicone if possible.

I have a 80 scirocco all original. alternator appears to be leaking a tar like substance. any idea's?

The only thing that is likely to have what you describe is the regulator / brushes unit. I suggest that you have the alternator removed and checked out as it it becomes uncontrolled then there is the possibility of a dead short and fire.

What caused white smoke from exhaust?

Generally, white smoke is engine coolant burning. If it only happened for a few seconds, you may have leaked some on the exhaust pipes.
I would check the engine oil and coolant levels with the engine cold, and then look for coolant leaks.

Hi. My 86 Scirocco 8v broke down. The oil pressure light and buzzer came on. I open the hood and oil has sprayed all over. Looks like is came out of the front of the engine near the oil filter.

check and see if the filter is loose. if it is, tighten it,then refill the oil and hope thats all it was. if its tight, you need to refill it and then determine where the leak is.

the black tar residue is bascially from either the transmission cooling tank which is part of the radiator has a leak inside the radiator and letting trans fluis leak into the system or/ you have a defective/;leakinf head gasket on the engine and yes! you should get that checked asap cause it can cause extensive damage in the long run
