THe torque converter allows the crank shaft turning action to be relayed to the input shaft of the gear box in a controlled manner (as to a clutch which is either on or off ). When there is sufficient engine rpm to push the oil against the vanes in the converter then you get car motion if in gear. When there is sufficient pressure being generated then there is a lock up clutch in the converter that now works the same as an engaged clutch. A shift solenoid decides which valve in the gear box is moved to engage which gear or even the lock up clutch in the converter. IT is all controlled by the TCM (transmission control module) that changes the shift solenoid to select the correct gear when the engine rpm and road speed reaches preset parameters This is a basic explanation of your question and relates to just about all automatic transmissions

A shift solenoid controls oil flow to the clutch packs in an automatic transmission. It uses DC power to turn them on The clutch packs control which gear you want The torque converter is basically a slippable clutch when you accelerate it engages and drives the gearbox

SOURCE: can my torque converter sensor cause my transmission not to shift

I think it can and I remember problems with the PCM in the transmission controls had recalls. First check your fluid levels and see if it is low. You may get lucky to just add fluid. You may be better off running your VIN# to see if there were recalls on your car at the dealer. Best of Luck.

SOURCE: grand prix torque converter locks up too soon

Either the speed sensor, TCC solenoid , ECU or a stuck check ball in a lockup plate. I recommend taking this to a transmission shop this could get fustrating.

SOURCE: i got a code p1747 electronic pressure control solonoid short circuit where is this located and will that cause my truck to throw all the shift solonoid codes

The solenoids are inside the transmission, if you are getting more than one code you may have a problem with the wiring harness going into the trans.

The tranny wont shift up in drive from third at about 40 mph the tranny starts to hesitate stutter. already changed oil filter and speed solonoid

just by your description (detailed) id say it could go a few directions ??4 a cause, one way is the 40 mph is near the speed that overdrive is engaged (42 mph) these do sometimes have problems inside them (gears ) also the stutter you mention is sort of an indication that your torque converter didn't lock up or is locking/.unlocking this is an indication of a immanent torque converter failure , if car was made past 2001 then chances are good it has some kind of transmission control system that could log a fault to help you look for a cause like a faulty speed sensor or something , ck your codes !!

How does the torque converter solonoid and shift solonoid look like on a 1998 chevy k2500 4x4

They are the electronic switches mounted to the transmission valve body. Usually under a pan or cover.

They are located on the valve body inside the transmission. Do a search for the valve body location.

THAT CODE P0734 IS A TCC (TORQUE CONVERTER CLUTCH) TROUBLE CODE. EITHER THE WIRING GOING INTO TORQUE CONVERTER SOLONOID ARE LOOSE OR THE SOLONOID ITS SELF IS BAD.

Code p0753 for a dodge ram 2500 360 m

Both fault codes refer at Tnasmission problem...

P0743 - Torque Converter Circuit Electrical
This DTC appears when an open or shorted condition is detected in the TCC (Torque Converter Clutch) solenoid control circuit; check this as possible causes:
- fused ignition switch output circuit open
- torque converter clutch solenoid defective
- TCC solenoid circuit w/h intermittent defect
- TCCsolenoid circuit w/h observable defect
- TCC solenoid control circuit open
- TCC solenoid control circuit short to ground
- PCM defective (TCC solenoid control circuit)

You will need remove the cover/pan to inspect the harness that goes to all the solonoids and then to inspect the valvebody and the TCC solonoid itself. If you have a multimeter then you could ohm through the harness and even the solonoid. I have found that most of the time this code was produced because of the solonoid itself. But it could be the circuits to it also. There is abig connector an top of the trans that goes into the trans and the internal harness ispect that connector for any corrosion or damaged pins or wires.

P0753 - Shift Solenoid A Electrical Malfunction
This is a common repair that I have replaced several of the solenoid but it is not a cronic problem. It be the wire going to the solenoid shorted so make sure that is check before the transmission is tilted down and the side cover removed. 90% it is just the solenoid; the solenoid is located in the side pan of the tranmission. It would mean lowering the cradle(what the engine and transmission sit on) and lowering the transmission down about one to two feet. Check this like a possible cause:
- 1-2 shift solenoid control circuit is open or shorted to ground
- 1-2 shift solenoid control circuit is shorted to voltage
- 1-2 shift solenoid has failed
- PCM has failed

You will need to remove the transmission pan and its the solenoid with the red and light green wires going to it. Let us know if you have questions contact us here.

Hope this helps and just keep in mind that your feedback is important and I'll appreciate your time and consideration if you leave some testimonial comment about this answer. Thank you for using FixYa.

Jose.

i think you have a ax4n trany fix the leak first but i think it is the tcc solonoid torque converter cluch solonoid that is in the side pan of the trans on the driver side and takes some time to get off
