Horn is not functioning on my 2006 Ford Taurus. I have checked the fuses listed in the owners manual. I however can't seem to locate the Horn Relay. I found a secondary relay box stuck between the battery...

Is the air bag light lit on the instrument cluster ? The horn relay isn't under the hood in the engine compartment , it's in the SJB - smart junction box located inside the passager compartment . Under the dash panel left side . You can take the relay back to autozone because it's not the right one ! The relay is inside the smart junction box ,soldered to the printed circuit board !
Horn Horn
The vehicle is equipped with dual horns. The horns are mounted in the LF frame rail corner behind the front bumper.
The horn system consists of the following components:
  • steering wheel horn switches
  • clockspring
  • horns
  • smart junction box (SJB)
Horn Switch, Steering Wheel Mounted
The horn switches are incorporated within the driver side air bag module in the steering wheel. The switches are grounded and control the horns through the clockspring. For removal and installation of the driver side air bag module, refer to Section 501-20B .

I check the fuse and the horn is not working

Check in your owner's manual for the location of the horn relay. It will usually look like a small metal or plastic box that plugs into either the main fuse box or the high amp fuse box under the hood. If your horn fuse is good then most likely the horn relay needs replaced.

My horn dosen't work on 1997 ford taurus

You will first need to check the fuse, check all the fuses, tthen check for power at the horn, use a testlight and have someone push horn pad while you test for power if you have power there then horn is no good, if there sno power and fuses are good then it one of two thing a bad horn relay or a bad clockspring.

2001 ford taurus horn does not work

Start off with checking the fuse, then with a test-light check for power and ground at the horn. Ask a friend to push the horn button while you are testing.
If you have power and ground then its the horn. If not then you will want to check the horn relay and the horn button.
If you are not sure how to remove your horn button, which is the air-bag too. Don't, bring it to a mechanic. Good luck.

Horn inop

First check the fuse, fuse 30 15a under dash. if that's ok use a test light at the horn, remove the grille to access it, have someone push the switch and check the yellow and light green wire. if that lights it up check the ground by clamping the test light to battery positive and check the black wire, if that lights it up too, replace the horn assembly. If the power side didn't light up check relay k33, check the dark blue wire under the steering wheel for ground with test light on batt pos, horn switch depressed, if it doesn't light up, you need a new clockspring, which someone who knows what they're doing needs to do it because the air bag needs to come out. If none of these tests work out, more testing is needed that cannot be simply described here.

2005 ford taurus horn just doesn't work. I've

The problem can be with the horn pad, the horn relay or the horn itself. Find your horn relay, it should be in the engine compartment fuse box. Remove the relay and test for power at the legs. there should be two legs that have power. If there is power there, take the cover off the relay and plug it back in. Squeez the relay points together and see if the horn works. If the horn still does not work, it is probably the horn itself. If it does work it is probably the horn pad, but you don't want to mess with that because of the air bag. Let a pro do it.

All of this is predicated on the fact that you have checked all the fuses.

Hope this helps

1986 Chevy Caprice Classic Horn not working

Diagram should be on the inside of the fuse box or relay cluster lid/cover. If Test light has 1 wire and a sharp tip? Yes, but only if you push the horn button too ;-)

My guess is that the horn lost its ground, but you can check this with the light. The horn only beeps when both GROUND and Pos 12v are present. The horn button gives the relay 12v to close, and the relay gives the horn 12v to operate. The ground is always connected.

Connect tester clipwire to 12v source (battery, headlight (has to be on) and touch its tip to metal of car. Does it light? Good. the tester is working and the 12v is a good source.

Touch one of the 2 horn connection or wires (poke it thru the plastic - why tip is sharp). Does it light? Touch the other, does it?

If both light, (1 will be brighter) we can assume the horn coil is good and it is getting a good ground and I was wrong (it happens... but not often). The side that is BRIGHTER is the ground wire side.

Now have someone mash the horn button. Do you hear a tiny click? That is the horn relay. If not, look for the horn relay fuse and replace it. If you DID hear the click, the relay coil is good and is trying to switch 12v to drive the horn.

Now is time to locate and replace the horn fuse or the relay may have bad contacts. Look at the other relay part numbers in the cluster and see if there is a match for the horn one. Swap it out and try the horn.

Hope this all helps. To 'test' the horn, touch the dim side again anf listen for a scratching sound. That is the 12v going thru the tiny bulb in the tester (a resistance) and trying to drive the horn.

Good Luck!
