Question about Pontiac Cars & Trucks
Your posting does not indicate if you have a good clean mixture of antifreeze coolant in your heat & cool exchanger ( ie. radiator ), this valuable component of the vehicle coolant & heating system alway's need's a good supply of 50% water to 50% antifreeze which is under pressure and could hurt you or anyone standing too close to your vehice in question.
Purchase the anti-freeze in either full mixture (100%) or 50% water 50% anti-freeze just about anywhere out there with a vehicle repair isle.
Personally speaking I mix 50% water 50% anti-freeze since this is much cheaper than buying the already 50% water to 50% anti-freeze simply due to economic reasons.
After filling this radiator container, remember to alway's follow your vehicle manufacture's safety guidelines, remember there are many moving parts in the engine compartment that could hurt you or people standing around your vehicle while the engine is running.

Is your temperature gauge working now? That is of more concern then your heater as you wouldnt know if your engine was overheating until its too late. Your heater core could be clogged, they get clogged quite easily. You can flush them or replace. The part is inexpensive but on some models you have to take out dash to replace them, but on other models it only takes about 30 mins and a few bolts.

If the hoses to and from the heater core are hot , and you say the heater core is hot , then the only answer is that the air duct that flows into or out of the heater core plenum ( housing ) is not opening.
Heater control on dash borad inoperative.
Not sure about 92 capri , some cars have a cable linkage , some work on vacume motors.
Try to find a haynes manual for your car , they will walk you through almost every step of anything you may ever want to do to your car.
You seem to know what you are doing , but I gotta ask ........the heater core you felt was up behind the dash inside the passenger compartment of the car right ?

sounds like you have some mechanical aptitude..... I LIKE THAT!!!! Now....get your hand up to the evap box....after the jeep has been running for a while so it can get warmed upand turn the heater on......you should feel some hot air on the evap box on the mid to upper part...if you do this is good...it means you have a temp door actuator stickin....which is a huge tsb for these vehicles....if there is no hot air on the evap box on the inside of the jeep then get back undr the hood and put your hands on the heater core inlet and outlet hose......should both feel the same hotness...if not then ya have a faulted heater core...try to flush it and replace if necessary..........HOPE I HELPED!!!!

Since your blower is working and it is a heat issue,thats where we'll
start,First thing is have you checked the coolant level in the radiator when
engine is cold,make sure it is filled to top,next verify you have coolant in
reserve ,Start your van and get it up to normal operation temperature,If your
heat gauge on the dash works correctly it should be 190 degrees,Now lift the
hood and locate the two heater hoses going into the heater assembly at the fire
wall,Both hoses should be hot to hold on to,if both are hot and no heat inside
your problem will be the blend air door in heater assembly.
if neither hose is that hot you need to replace the thermostat in the engine to get it up to 195 degrees.
if one hose is hot and one is luke warm then the heater core is blocked and to blame. hope this helps you.
