Why won't the A/C turn on?

You did put 134a back in? But possibly not enough? There is a pressure safety switch somewhere in the system that detects pressure and opens the circuit if not enough freon. At least that is where I would start. Does the Compressor turn freely otherwise by hand? Did you get enough compressor oil into the system (new Compressors need special charge with compressor oil).

firstly i think you have overcharged the Ac system as the most it should hold is 650 grms for this system on this model ,if too much gas it will click in and out and slow the engine down ,as for the gauge readings then renew the sensor its on the housing at the front in the plastic housing ,depending on year and model this is where most are ,but some later models have a sensor at the back of the head left side from front

2000 Volkswagen Golf has trouble starting, battery and alternator have been replaced. The problem does not seem to be the starter or fuel. Any ideas?

Check for spark. Please see my tip at http://www.fixya.com/cars/r5821173-doesnt_car_start_gasoline_engines . These are generic instructions. If you get stuck or need specific instructions for your car, please get back to me with model, year and engine info.

The car wont start sometimes and sometimes it will. The engine doesn't even turn over but it's not a battery problem because we had that checked. What could it be?

Dear Madam or Sir,

this is a well known problem with the immobilizer system.

See the following official tech bulletin :

Affected vehicles:
All models with Bosch RB8 instrument panel up to 2002 MY.

Problem:

Engine starts and cuts out immediately.

Trouble code stored: 17978 (P1570) - engine control module (ECM), immobilizer active.

Trouble code stored: 18058 (P1650) - CAN data bus, instrumentation - no signal.

Cause
Immobilizer fault.
System arms when ignition switched ON.

Remedy:
Access fault memory. If trouble codes present fit modified instrument panel (incorporating immobilizer control module).

Note: Immobilizer can only be programmed using diagnostic equipment.

Have trouble starting car when cold.when running

For issues like this it is a fuel system related problem.

Have a look at the fuel pump (located in the fuel-tank). Check for the pressure and see the fuel filter too.

Good luck dear. And don't forget to rate this solution.
