What I would do is type in 1984 dodge ram steering cloumn and hit search. The most common hits will be e-bay and probably kijiji or craigslist. You could also call your local salvage yard. Most of them are on a cross country intranet with other yards and could find one that way.

Check the connections to the starter. If problem persists replace starter points or just buy a new starter.

I have a 1984 dodge ram w100 5.9l i turn the key forward one click and have no juice, tried two relays but no luck, the back of the fuse box shorted out when i moved it can't find the problem can you help?

This is a shot in the dark ... please don't kill me if I am wrong.

As I understand it, you have no power in your 1984 Dodge Ram Van 100. I had a 1984 Dodge 250 (manufactured in September 83). I had a "dead in the water" situation. It was caused by a short in a wire I had installed and later abandoned - for a auxiliary horn. All my fuses were intact. What I found (what the mechanic found for the tidy sum of $300.00) was a burnt fusible link that ran behind the brake booster. He terminated the wire I installed and replaced the link and I was good to go.

I also had trouble with the ignition switch many years ago. I could operate it by manipulating the actual switch (which is actually located low on the steering column) but I couldn't get anything to go by moving the key. The actual switch had stuck between contacts and several wires had over heated. I replaced that switch low on the column (mine was a 1983 part) and I never had another problem with it.

I hope this sheds light on your trouble today. Thank for using FixYa.com
