The ignition switches are made to be replaced. You should not have to cut or splice anything, those parts would stay in the vehicle and attach to the ignition switch.
1. Remove the lower steering column cover screws and remove cover 2. Remove lock cylinder 3. Remove the multifunction switch 4. Disconnect the electrical connector at the rear of the ignition switch 5. Remove the ignition switch mounting screw using a tamper-proof torx bit 6. Pull the ignition switch straight out to remove from the locking tabs 7. To install, the switch must be rotated to the ON position before installing so the lock cylinder can be installed 8. Complete installation by reversing steps 1 through 6
