I own a 2006, last yr it started to have a problem with the heat in my car. As long as the car is physically moving the heat is warm, but if the car is stopped it starts blowing cold air. I tried the adding coolant last yr, but I did not last long before it started again.

Start with a better thermostat. First then check for bad hose s or clogged hose as well as vent working well

SOURCE: heater core blowing cold and leaking coolant

Locating the connections from the engine compartment to the heater core shouldn't require a diagram.
Check the hoses and their paths and you will find two that go through the firewall via a fixed connector; these are the in- and outlet for hot water circulation. Since the hoses have had a dozen years to weld themselves to the fitting, they probably won't be easy to remove; it may be necessary to **** them with a razor blade and pry the hose from the fitting.
If you have a little junk pipe pieces at home, either 1/2 or 3/4 should be a fit to couple these two ends together after they are removed from the connectors that you'll find at the firewall.

check the coolant level first! and change the thermostat if need be. sit in car until the temp. guage reads normal temp. if it is normal, and still no good heat. it is possibly the thermostat thats sticking. when changing coolant remember to bleed air from system while putting fluid in. it may also need a good flush. good-luck !! i live here in ny and today the wind chill is 8 below zero.

The engine- gt tdi - needs cranking for 2-5 secs to

It is not air or fuel supply. Do not try clearing the fuel lines.

You have a faulty residual fuel sensor. This is part of the warm start system. A small amount of fuel is held under pressure so as there is pressure in the system to start the car. Pressure varies due to heat. Yours is failing under heat. When cold it starts just fine.

Go to the library ask for the Robert Bentley (authors) service manual for your model and yr. If they don't have it they will get it from another branch (free). Look under fuel system and you will see all the details on the system.

It is not hard to check, remove and replace.

2005 Pathfinder Heat Flow problem

I am having/had the same problem. My rear heater has not worked the last 2 winters, still trying to figure that one out. But I think I solved the front heat problem myself. The heater was blowing cold air while idling and hot air when the car was moving.

I jacked up the front of the vehicle, took the cap off of the reserve tank for the radiator, turned the car on and ran the heat (AC off) for 15 minutes. This is supposed to release any air bubbles in the coolant system and I did see air bubbles emerge as I was watching (this might be normal occurance, I'm far from a mechanical expert). Anyway, this did not immediately solve the problem, still blowing cold air as it sat there idling after 15 minutes. Dejected, I put the cap back on, lowered the vehicle and resigned myself to taking it to a dealer.

But a funny thing happened the next day, the coolant level was a lower (no leaks on the floor) so I filled up, and sure enough, when I started the car and let it warm up a little, hot air started coming out of the heater!!!

As far as my wife knows, I fixed the problem for the price of a bottle of coolant, so I am a hero...but at first I thought it didn't work. Here we are a month later and still blowing warm air and haven't had to replace any more coolant...the internet is a wonderful thing!

Hope this works for you, and I hope I can figure out my rear heater problem as well.
