Question about 2003 Porsche Cayenne

1 Answer

Hello, I have a problem with my gearbox 2004 Cayenne Turbo - I can only drive In manual as it struggles selecting gears and get a jerking/clunking sound in low gears, I also have to turn the traction control off otherwise it shudders - I have had the drive shafts replaced as that was advised but the problem persists?

Sounds like a vacumn leak causing the shift points and idle speed to be affected. Look for off/or cracked vacumn lines/connections. Hope this helps,.

SOURCE: 2004 Porsche Cayenne Turbo problems

It should be noted that I personally do not own this car; my grandparents do. I've had the pleasure of driving it on a number of occasions though, and as I was the one who recommended it to them, I try to keep up on whether anything has gone wrong with it or not. And, to the best of my knowledge the car has been completely flawless. No reliability problems at all.

SOURCE: I have a 2005 porsche

This may be due to a reprograming needed, contact dealer and see if there are any bulletins on this problem, also i would check the air filterbox and make sure nothing is blocking air flow, then if all looks good then i would have the computer scanned to see if any fault codes are stored due to this problem.

SOURCE: My engine light just came on in my 2004 Cayenne

You don't have to hurry up, But you need to know why the light is on. because when its on that means the computer detected a problem around which could be a small or big. but if you would like to you might wanna go to an auto part store and they will scan it for you for free and they'll tell you the code to know whats wrong with it. Good luck

cannot be sure here without a on site inspection but i would hazard a guess and say the flex drive plate has broke around the crankshaft retaining bolts ,its a gearbox out job to repair ,the plate holds the torque converter in position to the engine crank ,Dont get this problem with a manual transmission

Fiesta started making noises either gearbox or clutch? clunks going in to reverse, shudders driving off in 1st gear

sounds like your clutch is going out, is it hard to put in gear with clutch all the way depressed? could also be the sinkronyzer going out, could be the gears in the transmission also going bad. need to check the fluid in the transmission.

2005 Corolla's manual trasmission shifts gears, it clunks

hi mate , sounds like the SPIGOT bearing its a little bearing that allows the gearbox to be at a different seed than the engine flywheel and if this is in bad condition it will take the gearbox front shaft to a higher speed than comfortable for gearshift , in the meantime when you go for 1st or reverse gear just engage a gear like 4th without taking your foot off the clutch and then go for 1st or reverse, this will stop the gearbox spining long enough for a smooth shif, oNLY USE THIS METHOD WHILE STaTIONARY and see a professional when you get time.

I think that mechanic is stealing your money

The noise surely comes from some engine mount , or exhaust system

renault gearbox are known to give problems.the clunk you hear might not be in the gearbox sounds more like gearbox mounting i would get it checked first however the whine in fith gear is a differant problem yes i am inclined to agree with you on this one.sorry but it looks like a replacement gearbox is going to be the only answer good luck.adrian
