My 1999 dodge durango 4x4 will turn over but it wont start where should i start?

If vehicle has spark ( even weak spark ) with a fuel supply it should start or at least try to start. Possible fuel pump problem. You need to determine if there is a fuel supply. You can try banging on the fuel tank with a blunt object ( hammer ) while trying to start the vehicle. If it starts or tries to start, suspect a fuel pump failure. If no luck using this procedure, you will need to tap into a fuel line to determine if fuel supply is present and at the proper pressure and volume

2003 ford Taurus been sitting up try to start just spins over want start

Crank but no start is either no spark or no fuel to engine.
Best way to narrow it down is to just spray a 1 second dose of starting fluid into the air intake before you try to start it. If it does start then die it is lack of fuel or bad fuel to engine. In all the modern EFI cars the most likely faults on fuel failure with fuel in car are:
1. fuel pump failure.
2. fuel pump relay
3. fuel filter plug

If it fails to fire on the starting fluid it is lack of spark, and the trouble shooting procedure will be to investigate the coil pack.

My Capri dumps fuel has spark won't start

If it's "dumping" fuel into the engine, the computer has it cold start mode. Stay off the throttle pedal when try to start after a good while to allow fuel to clear. If it won't start then, you've a fuel regulation problem on cold start. But do wait a good while for fuel to clear fron engine, then try to start without touching the throttle. It's meant to be this way.

How can I fix a no start issue? cranks but won't start

Uh oh, you may have had to bleed the air out of the fuel system after the filter change. You may damage the fuel pump ($$$$$) by cranking the engine with no fuel to lube the very high pressure fuel pump. It started a few times because there was still fuel in the pump. Now it's dry.

Starting troubles

it sounds like its not getting enough fuel on the first try! check all in fuel system. fuel pressure regulator, fuel filter, and fuel pressure if need be. also make sure fuel pump is ok. but you said after it starts its fine. so check all in fuel system, because fuel is not getting to engine on the first try.

Turns over and over can hear fuel pump come on will start with starting fluid and runs great but when shut off for a little while wont start again only with starting fluid

If the starting fluid works then you have a fuel pump or a fuel pump relay issue. The fuel pump relay allows the pump to come on for about 2 secs and prime the fuel system. Once the engine starts then the power to the fuel pump runs through the oil pressure circuit.
If the car starts on starting fluid and then continues to run... I would lean toward a fuel pump relay issue. Hope this helps, Good Luck!

My 2003 Alero, won't start in the morning,, its like its not getting fuel when trying to start it,, it crank fine, but won't turn over,, when I spray some quick start in the intake , it will start,,, and...

Its faulty fuel pump and clogged fuel filter. In your vehicle the fuel pressure is low,due to this faulty fuel pump and clogged fuel filter,so its not starting. But it starts when you spray liquid in intake. The liquid directly goes to engine so vehicle starts.Replace the fuel pump and filter. This will help.Thanks.Helpmech.

Replace your fuel pump, starting to go out.Not bad idea to also replace fuel filter with fuel pump.

Starting problems

Dirty fuel filter or faulty fuel pressure check valve which is located on your fuel pump sending unit. Try this test, turn the ignition on for 10 seconds (engine not running) then turn it off for 5 seconds and turn it on again then try to start the engine after 10 seconds. This will re-pressurize the fuel lines to start the engine, the fuel injectors need 62-65PSI to have them start the engine. Anything less then that and you'll have starting problem.
If it start's right up, then your ether have a fuel pressure check valve gone bad or a fuel leak at your fuel pressure regulator which is also common, but if your engine is still running 100% then i'll lean towards check valve or dirty fuel filter.

Start with the simple and replace the fuel filter, a dirty fuel filter will cause fuel restriction that may just be enough to the fuel pressure below 62PSI upon cold starts and a dirty fuel filter will cause the fuel pump to fail early in it's life.
Thank you for using Fixya and goos luck.

hi is there fuel getting to engine?any vapour coming out exhaust?sometimes glow plugs not working can cause this.try a squirt of easy start into air filter.NOT MUCH!!READ INSTRUCTIONS.HIGHLY FLAMMABLE.then start car for about 10secs.get this from car accessorie shops.if it fires on this its highly likely glowplugs not working or fuel pumptiming out.its hard to say without seeing the car
