Some cars are equiped with an engine oil cooler. I am sorry to be the one to tell you, but when the this cooler;s gasket fails, it will leak coolant into the radiator. It is a very hard repair that needs to be done by a good mechanic with a good reputation. Then on the other hand it may be a cracked engine head. It is either one or the other. Both are costly to repair. The cooler repair will go for about $400 plus labor. The Head replacement is probably more. You can weigh the consequences and see if you want to do this yourself if you are mechanically inclined. Sorry bro.

SOURCE: 1995 Buick Riviera SC: traction and the security light

traction switch is located next to drivers left knee on bottom of should be able to turn off the traction light there by just turning on the traction control.....the security light is telling you that there is a problem with your security system....could just need a new key with a new computer chip....make sure the key is clean and dry when using so it can read the chip....the security light comes on whenever your start the car and stays on for approximatley 2 minutes and then should go is just a reminder....try this and see if it works....lock the door using the power switch on door.....close door and see if the security light comes and it should go out after about 2 minutes...if it does then your alarm is activated and disarm you need to unlock the driver door with the key...anything else will set the alarm off and the lights will start flashing and the horn honking...after you set the alarm off you will always have to use the key to unlock the drivers door to turn off the alarm and reset the security system.

Why does my car make a rattling noise when I reverse

There is a king pin in the transmission that is engaged when it is put in park. If the vehicle is not at a stop when you put it in park, the pin shears off.

Transmission clunks when shifting into reverse after initially starting the car.

It has a worn or broken rear engine mount most of the torque is absorbed in the front mounts and hanger mounts except when it is shifted into reverse.

Transmission clunking when shifting to drive from park

could be your motor mounts are bad or are going bad the rubber mounts weaken over time and when u shift the engine tilts farther then it should when it shifts from park to reverse or park to drive. Its also a good idea to check your transmission fluid level with the car running and pull out the dipstick. if the level is fine and ur ****** isnt slipping then its prolly not the ******.

Engine is hard to start hesitates & jerks while driving. replaced crank senor & cam senor

Hello There

Sorry to hear that. Did you make sure to align the crankshaft sensor properly? I own a Buick Park Avenue with the same engine as the Riviera (except mine is not supercharged). It's very critical that you make sure you align the crankshaft sensor properly or it will cause severe damage to the harmonic balancer/vibration, also know as the crankshaft pulley. Make sure the fins on the back of the Haramonic Balancer pass through the crankshaft sensor properly. You can obtain the alignment tool from your local Autozone.

Also check that the crankshaft pulley is not sticking and pulling your serpentine bolt while your driving. Take the serpentine belt off and inspect all of the pulleys on your serpentine belt drive. Make sure nothing is sticking, if it is, replace the colporate immediately. This could explain the jerking motion you feel while driving. Make sure you replace the belt just the same way it came off.

If you unsure of any repair procedure, acquire a Haynes auto repair manual for the 1995 Buick Riviera from your local auto parts store.

I consider it to have the most reliable and accurate repair info available to the consumer public.

Just for the heck of it, check your spark plugs. If you haven't replace and gaped them in the last 50.000 miles their probably due for replacement. You'd be amazed what kind of problems a bad spark plug can cause. On the 3.8 liter V6 the gap is 0.60 (sixty thousands of an inch)

Make sure that your brakes are not sticking while you are driving, and that the parking brake has been released before you put the car into gear.

And one last thing. Unlike the Park Avenue where you can get away with using cheap unleaded gas, nothing less than premium fuel will do in the
Riviera. Because of their high powered supercharged engines, if your using anything less than premium unleaded gas, your starving your engine to death.

Hope this helps

Good Luck!

The transmission of my 1995 riveria seems to be slipping

you are possibly looking at a new clutch if manual drive, this sounds like the thrust bearing is warn ( whiring noise)as well as the clutch plate ( slipping as you accelerate), if its an auto, try topping up the fluid for the autobox, as this also sounds like its empty( whiring noise and loss of power to drive), dont forget when checking the auto box fluid, make sure the motor is running and obviously in park...hope this helps

95 buick lesabre shifts hard

1. There may be a vacuum leak anywhere under the hood.
2. The vacuum governor mounted on the transmission is broken (has a ruptured diaphragm). Easy to replace, has one bolt and a small (one inch) locking plate.
3. Replacement at AutoZone is around $12~~20.

Hope this helps!
