SOURCE: Brake lights

it's located up underneath the pedal, just follow the pedal up and you will see it. If your lights are staying on, and your cruise control not working, its because a little rubber part has broken and is not depressingthe switch button. go to the dealer and tell them you need that rubber part, they will probably have to order it, it's cheap like a buck or so. Installation can be difficult if you are not a small person. but it can be done. Took me 2 minuts but i fit well under the pedals.

SOURCE: Back up lights on a 1978 Ford Ranger Truck

Not sure about the '78 Ranger, but I have a 1977 F150 and the backup light/neutral safety switch is located on the transmission with the linkage. You use a #43 drill bit to make the adjustments. Hope this helped and best wishes.

SOURCE: 1997 ford truck cannot get it out of park

The shift interlock system prevents the shifting from PARK unless the brake pedal (2455) is depressed. The shift interlock system consists of a shift lock actuator (3Z719) mounted at the base of the steering column tube (3514). If the ignition switch (11572) is in the RUN position, the shift lock actuator is continually on unless the brake pedal is depressed. The shift lock actuator is the logical culprit. Check to see if it's getting voltage when the brake pedal is depressed. If yes: the unit is either faulty, weak or stuck. I can provide wire numbers and colors if necessary. I may need the engine size and Trans. code found on drivers door sticker. Good luck! Aoogha

Where is the brake light switch located on a 62 ford econoline truck? Is it on the master cylinder? If so where is the cylinder located?

if its the low brake fluid light then the switch is located on the proportioning block. if its the brake light switch that operates the brake light when pushing the brake pedal then this is located at the base of the steering colume where the switch is mounted. there will be 2 wires one wire will have power all the time and the other wire will only have power when the brake pedal is pushed.

1984 ford f150 no brake lights. There is a vaccum switch that contacts the brake pedal. It works on positive pressure meaning when the brake pedal is NOT pressed down, the system is sealed. When the brake...

Look for a "electric only" switch ......on the brake pedal pivot where the master cylinder rod attaches. The switch has 2 wires.
Check for power to it and then power from it with the pedal depressed. It is held on with a single clip.
It is the most common cause of "no brake lights" on Ford trucks.
2nd common cause is bad wiring connections along the frame.

Sounds like your brake light switch has gone bad. It is located on your brake pedal and is easy to change and relatively inexpensive. Let me know if you have any more questions. Thanks for rating my response and for using FixYa!

I have a 1989 s-10.The parking brake light blinks six times, pauses then flashes again.I was wondering what trouble code that would be???Thanks.

RWAL Fault codes
Codes for Dodge RWAL, Ford RABS and GM RWAL applications are similar but have a few differences:
  1. Should not occur (replace the controller if it does)
  2. Open isolation valve circuit or defective ABS module
  3. Open dump valve circuit or defective ABS module
  4. Grounded or closed RABS or RWAL valve switch
  5. Excessive actuations of dump valve during ABS braking
  6. Erratic speed sensor signal
  7. Shorted isolation valve or defective ABS module
  8. Shorter dump valve or defective ABS module
  9. High resistance or open speed sensor circuit (resistance should be 1000 to 2500 ohms)
  10. Low speed sensor resistance (Dodge & Ford only)
  11. Open speed sensor circuit (GM only)
  12. Stop lamp switch circuit (Dodge & Ford)
  13. ABS module speed processor (Dodge & Ford only)
  14. ABS module program (Dodge & Ford only)
  15. ABS module RAM memory failure (Dodge & Ford)
To manually clear a stored fault code on GM and some Dodge trucks with RWAL, remove the ABS fuse or disconnect the battery for 5 seconds. Ford RABS codes will automatically clear when the ignition is turned to the off position.
