remove the positive battery cabelf ro 10 mins to reset the computer....
SOURCE: Gearbox fault of Jaguar S Type
unfortunately when that code, and that gear box fault light comes on, its pretty much game over for the transmission. It only a matter of time before performance of the transmission gets worse and worse. BUT that transmission is VERY easy to replace, i would check out a few trustworthy independent shops to give you a better price! I am usually a die-hard dealership, having been working at this jaguar land rover dealership for the last 2 years, but you are pretty much for sure going to be a cheaper price on the labor and like i said it is a pretty easy task.
My only precaution MAKE SURE IF YOU GETTING A USED TRANSMISSION THAT YOU GET SOME TYPE OF WARRANTY ON IT. Too many times have I seen customers loose thousands of dollars paying someone to put a used engine or transmission and have it fail almost right away.

I have a 2002 X type (2 litre. done 44000 miles), dash showed gear box problem, (red circle light up). I pulled out and turned the engine off. 5 minutes later turned the engine on. The engine running but the car would not drive either in drive or reverse. Turned the engine off again and on the car driving but not much power. The care is taken to the Jag. dealer and told is misfiring + some gear box faults. Suggesting to change some coils and see (cost about £200+). also possible need to change the gear box costing about £2500+. Please advice. Shall I go ahead with the repair? Should I part exchange.

the little teeth on the front axles maybe hanging up give these websites a try www.autozone.com and www.alldatadiy.com if all fails stop by your local Jaguar dealership in the parts department and they can print you out pictures and diagrams wish you the best Michigan Man.
SOURCE: On the 2000 jaguar s-type, what is, Cats system
Cats was a optional extra from the factory. It is adaptive damping. It basicialy softens or stiffens the shock absorbers to your driving style.
It may seem that one of your shock absorbers has developed a internal pressure fault. A local garage with a code reader can tell you wich shock absorber to check. Would be worth checking the electrical connectors that plug into the top of the shock absorber to make sure they are not damaged.
Look's like you may need a new shock absorber
Whenever
this warning light or any other stays on in the dash it is indicating
that the systems control module (or the system sensor in the case of
lights like low oil pressure, door open indicators etc.) has detected
a fault, it then disables the system (this applies to ABS,TCS, TCM,
SRS and BCM faults and others) as long as the light is on. You must
now have the dealer hook up a special electronic diagnostic tool and
"scan" the system for the fault code that is stored for the
problem(s)
