How to repair a leaking oil pump on my 1989 toyota corolla

need more info... the oil pump is in the oil pan and pumps oil to the filter and from there to the internal parts of the engine. if it was loose from is mounting it might leak and not work, or worn out and not have much pressure. if you don't have pressure, it could more than likely be worn bearings.

how do you know it is leaking, because it isn't visible!?

93 crown victoria.leaking oil under the oil pump of the motor

The oil pump is in the pan you may be leeking oil from the oil sending unit next to the oil filter or the filter may be leeking . get under vehicle after safely securing it wipe off and figure out where it is leaking from if oil pan is rusted through replace oil pan. usually its the oil sending unit switch usually under 20 dollars for part and it screws on and off

When an oil pump is supposedly "leaking" while a maintenance/replacement is being performed on the timing belt [at a 100K checkup], where would the leak be "leaking to"?

The pump is driven by the timing belt, so the oil pump shaft sticks out of the engine to access the belt. The leak would most likely be the oil pump shaft seal.

Sounds like you’re skeptical.

The oil is leaking from my car i think that the oil pump is damaged because oil is leaking very bad

Unless you've run it out of engine oil because of the bad leaks , oil leaks are are not a sign of a bad oil pump , what is a sign of a bad oil pump is low or no oil pressure either due to lack of oil for the pump to pick up in the oil sump or either a mechanical failure of the oil pump, in which case you would have some internal damage to your engine. In either case if you plan to keep the car then by all means have the oil leaks investigated and repaired so the the oil stays inside the motor instead of the outside and on the ground making your driveway look horrible...

Oil Leaking

Check the metal vent tube on the fuel pump. When the diaphram goes out, oil will leak from the vent tube. If that is the problem, get it fixed pronto. Not always but there are some times when fuel gets mixed into the oil when the pump is going out and that thins the oil out. Keep on driving with this problem and you can kiss your engine good bye.

When/if you change the fuel pump out, make sure not to lose the push rod that is behind it. It goes between the camshaft and fuel pump.
