Question about GMC Sierra
Mine does the same thing - I have to screw it past three full clicks to avoid a vapor leak. My mechanic says I could replace it but eventually a new cap will do it as well. Just be sure it is fully "clicked" BEFORE you turn the light off.

take car to any local parts store and have them check for codes. or a auto repair shop or the dealer. i would take to local parts store cause they will do it for free and give you the codes and tell you what they mean

put a new gas cap, those system are pres. even if
the cap look ok it maby leaking replace with a new
one it should solve your prob.
eng.ligh come on because of the gas cap

yes the gas cap could cause this,also check evap. purge solenoid and hoses for cracks or kinks,the solenoid is on the inner fender and has 2 hoses, one to the intake and one to the canister, the most common cause of this code is a defective purge solenoid.
