The very first thing you absolutely must do is disconnect the positive battery cable and wrap it with an old sock or something similar. I have had them creep back onto the battery while I was working and it's quite a surprise, believe this. Remove the electrical wire from the starter first, then the mounting bolts, not, the other way around. It is a Chinese puzzle to get it out but you will figure it out. Good luck, Dana.

well since the starter was only 2 months old i am betting its an ignition short. When u turn the key, the solenoid on the starter engages the bendix gear with the engines flywheel and then energizes the starter motor. And when u release the ignition the solenoid and the starter motor should de-energize. hope this helps you.

What is the symptom after replacing the battery and alternator? Does the motor still not crank (turn over)? It is not the starter if the motor is turning over...Hope this helps.

Capacitor location

some small AC motors may not have capacitor........normally Blower motors are high speed and high start-up torque just like kitchen blender motors. These motors do not have capacitor although they work on AC domestic supply. They have a stater winding and a rotor winding. Rotor gets its supply from carbon brushes generally located at its bottom. They often get worn out and start sparking. One can easely get them replaced.

When i turn the key on it sounds like the car is already started

That grinding noise is the starter motor gear not meshing with the flywheel gear most probably caused by a worn starter motor gear or weak solenoid inside the stater motor. You'll have to replace the starter motor to repair the car.

STARTER WONT ENGAGE ONLY CLICKS UNDER HOOD STATER

If the clicking sound is coming from the engine bay, from the relay, you may want to have the starter itself checked out. You need to check if the ground cable from the engine to the chassis is secured. If that is OK, you may want to have the starter motor checked.
