SOURCE: 2003 dodge 2500 diesel cold

I think you are expecting entirely too much from your vehicle. You say it is below 50 ... can this be 50 below (zero)?

The diesel trucks I operate hate to start in cold weather ... in fact they will not start even with either, below 30 period unless I have the engine heater plugged in (engine block heater). In fact I hate to start when it is cold, too. So, when the temperature dips, I plug the trucks in, and get extra coffee for myself. With the trucks warmed over night, there is no unnecessary wear and tear on MAN or MACHINE. Trucks start right up and my guys are on the road.

Just my thoughts based on my experience with my trucks ... yours are admittedly much newer and probably better maintained than mine.

Thanks for your question @ FixYa.com

What size battery cold cranking amps do I need for a 1999 Dodge Caravan

Depends if it is petrol or diesel 12 volt or 24 volt system. I have all ways fitted the largest battery that will fit in the battery tray, I find they last longer, and have some reserve if i use lights in the van.

How do I hotwire a 1993 olds98 regency elite?

Adrianne
Supply 12 volts to one side of the HV Coil. Then supply 12 volts to the small wire on the starter solenoid to start the engine.

Battery tests at 12 volts but won't start but starts with jumper cables to other car

battery should be showing 12,45 - 12.6 volts when car is standing still. also batteries getting old colects sulphate on plates ,this degrades the cold start performance. you can see that cranking amperage on stickers of batteries. for example 90 amperes 750 cca battery is required for my car but les wont crack it even it is 90 amperes but 640 cca. mainly lead acid or dry type batteries needs to be charged more than %40 of its capacity. 12 volts is only the ~%25 of its capacity and it seems yours is dead already.

Battery good ! Starter just clicks when trying to start .is it the starter?

starter or solenoid. Both come off at same time. Take them apart, and you can troubleshoot which one is bad, or can just replace both. If you hotwire 12 volts to starter and it turns, then starter is good (replace solenoid). If no turn, starter is bad.

Estima lucida 94 auto diesel needs jump leads every time

put a 12 volt test meter on the battery with the engine off and get the reading.
then start the engine and retest the volts it should go up a volt ot two.
if the test readings are the same then the alternator is bad.
thank you
