You will need to change your relay most likely in your fuse box ,,put some glasses on to see the fuse diagram to find your relay ...change it ,,,it is wearing out and causing your fan to kick off and on

Replaced radiator thermalstat cap it still overheats

Hi Donald it could be air in the system, or a crack in the EGR cooler. At worst it could be a head gasket problem or even a cracked head. You will need someone to look at it to confirm for you either way. Regards Jim...

Where to put stop leak in the radiator and what kind

Hi, I've been working on cars for over 40 years and found that all radiator stop leaks are a waste of time and money. Radiators have small cooling lines in front of the cooling fan which need to stay open. Stop leak products stops up radiators, engines and heater coils. If the radiator is not able to remove the heat for the engine, you'll most likely blow a head gasket. Replace the radiator $200.00. You'll have to do it anyway after you blow a head gasket ($1500-2500).

I have a 2000 Dodge Durango 5.2L that recently overheated. I replaced the old radiator (had a crack) with a new 4.7L...she still overheats. I viewed that the cooling fan wasn't spinning...I chec

check for low coolant level make sure coolant system been bleed from air.make radiator full coolant and coolant reservoir on the full cold mark.if all is good the cooling fan relay could be bad or the engine coolant temperature sensor could be faulty.

Clutch fan not working over heats at stops

You should have an electric cooling fan bolted to the radiator. If the fan is not working, someone should check the relay and fan motor for voltage and ground. The fan should come on when the ac is running and when the engine reaches 220 degrees.

My 99 alero v6 is over heating not leaking ight mite be hoses or thermostat . or head gasket but when it overb heats the smoke comes from the top of the engine

REPLACE THERMOSTAT AND RADIATOR PRESSURE CAP.IF CAR OVER HEATING WHILE IN MOTION.MORE LIKELY ITS THE THERMOSTAT,LOW COOLANT IN RADIATOR OR COOLANT SYSTEM,BAD WATER PUMP,WATER PUMP WEEP HOLE IS LEAKING, WATER PUMP NEEDS REPLACING.CHECK ENGINE OIL,IF OIL LOOKS LIKE MILK SHAKE YOU HAVE LEAKING HEAD GASKET.IF CAR IN PARK AND OVER HEATS WHILE IN A LONG TRAFFIC LINE OR.BANK DRIVE THROUGH COOLANT FAN NOT TURNING ON, BECAUSE THE ENGINE COOLANT TEMPERATURE SENSOR FAULTY.CODE SCAN CAR FOR FAULTY COOLANT FAN RELAY OR FAULTY PCM. CHECK COOLANT FAN FUSE, AND HOT WIRE THE COOLANT FAN TO MAKE SURE ITS WORKING.IF COOLANT FAN DONT WORK WHEN HOT WIRED. COOLANT FAN NEEDS REPLACING. REPLACE BOTH RADIATOR HOSES, REPLACE THERMOSTAT AND RADIATOR PRESSURE CAP.BUY NEW COOLANT ADD 50/50 WATER AND COOLANT.IF ENGINE OIL HAS ANTIFREEZE IN IT.REPLACE ENGINE OIL AND OIL FILTER TO KEEP FROM LOCKING UP THE ENGINE.GET CAR FIX.DONT KEEP DRIVING IF IT KEEP OVER HEATING,ENGINE DAMAGE WILL OCCUR.I HOPE INFORMATION I GAVE YOU WILL FIX PROBLEM.PROBLEM COULD BE LEAKING RADIATOR HOSES BUT CHANGE THERMOSTAT THATS FIRST THING I WOULD CHANGE BECAUSE IF IT CLOSED, ENGINE WILL OVER HEAT AND CRACK CYLINDER HEAD OR CRACK PISTON, COOLANT NEED TO CIRCULATE THROUGH THE ENGINE TO TAKE AWAY THE HEAT FROM ENGINE.

try wiggling the connector to the fan and see if it helps.
Sometimes when you check things cold they test O.K., but once they get warmed up they change size and stop working.

You might run power directly to the fan to make sure it's functional

MY 1998 SATURN DOESN'T SHUT OFF FOR 30 SECONDS WHEN U TURN ENGINE OFF HELP

One thing I can think of that will do that, is if some one wire your radiator elec. fan motor direct where it runs all the time, the fan motor will act like a alternator, where it will put voltage out to the ignition system, and till it stops spinning it will power the engine elec. system, one way to check is disconnect the cooling fan elec. plug (harness) and start the engine, if it turn off right away that your problem.

Ok i have replace the coolant, termostate, radator, and lower and upper hose. the only thing left for me to try other than the head gasket would be to romove the thermosate completly. please someone help...

DO NOT remove the thermostat completely! If there is no coolant in the oil or oil in the coolant your head gasket should be good for now. If the engine is overheating, monitor the fans while it is running to make sure they are engaging. Turn the a/c on and the temperature to hot. That should engage the auxiliary fan. The other fan should engage when the thermostat opens. Also, you may have air pockets in the system that need to be removed. once the car is warm, with a rag in your hand gently grab the upper radiator hose to feel for air bubbles. To remove them, wait until the engine cools and remove the radiator cap (which you should replace if you didn't when you put in the new radiator) top off the radiator and start the engine. Let it warm up with the a/c on hot to keep the fan running and when the thermostat opens, have someone bring rev and hold the engine at about 2000rpm while you top off the system and tighten the radiator cap, then let the engine back down to idle and road test the car. If coolant is being lost mysteriously, try removing one or more of the spark plugs to see if they smell like coolant (sweet, burned scent). Other than that, try to see if the water pump is leaking using a flashlight and a pocket mirror.
