Question about 1998 Toyota Land Cruiser
Look for a cracked fuel line between the main tank and the fuel changeover valve. It may be sucking air when in the main tank position. Look at the valve itself too It may not be working corrrectly.

Replace it. Most switches are mounted to plastic snap clips than can be removed with a simple Flathead screwdriver.A $5 plastic pry tool set is the best, but a butter knife or two works wonders sometimes.

I have 2002 100 series have pulled out rear sub / main tank solenoid and it operates OK but engine will only run on sub tank not main tank??? Seems like must be main tank fuel pump ..?? Any ideas???
