Question about Geo Cars & Trucks
One problem you put in a 16v engine over the 8v engine harness.
and let me guess, a new ECU? post the full facts, nobody in this world can guess that. its a custom setup..
but both ECUs cut fuel for 2 reasons. (firmware inside ECU)
1: TPS stuck wide open throttle, or its ground wire cut)
2: ECU thinks there is no spark,
tests (a:tachometer dead, cranking? 4wd cars have this tach.
b. insert the diag jumper (in DLC ) paperclip. then crank for 5 secnods and the ECU will tell you why, no kidding , it will.
see code 41 or 42, then bingo. it told you.
my guess is its #2 due to missing sparksupressor, device.
we've done many like this.

see no spark page here.
no spark total or got spark for only 2 seconds,
see test 1 here

and last the missing supressor

Since it gets spark and fuel I suspect the low compression to be a large factor. What is the compression in the other cylinders?

try www.autozone.com you will need to register (it's free and they don't send you junk e-mail). Go the the repair info section. If it is not on there, try your local library for a Hayes or Chilton repair manual

could it be the A/C pump kicking in. might be boging down the motor or electrical circuit, not letting the injectors get enough power. This could happen if the bearings are going bad in th A/C pump or there is a short in it. Just an idea. sounds like you have done the main components.

It needs a fluid change, and filter,in the transmission, also, add a additive called LUBEGUARD from napa auto parts, when you ask for the additive,be sure to get the one for gm,this additive keeps the valve body slick, and moving, this is the problem, your filter, and ,or,the fluid is dirty, and causing hydraulic problems, and valves to stick in the valve body in the transmission.
