On the RSX I'd check the IACV (Idle Air Control Valve) It's on the bottom of the throttle body and if stuck open can cause this. Also, make sure to check all sensors under the hood are in and tight. If it's none of those may want to look at the fuel pump.

SOURCE: 2002 Acura RSX type S wont start

If you heard a click when you cranked it, that's usually a dead battery. But, you need to check the oil level. I've had 2 RSX's that jumped time because the oil level dropped too low.

The tensioner on the timing chain is hydraulically controlled, if the oil level drops the tensioner looses tension and the chain jumps time. Its an extensive and expensive repair.

SOURCE: acura rsx trunk latch stuck & won't open

I"m having trouble with locking and unlocking my hatch using my remote. I have flipped the white switch in the trunk and it acts as a child safety lock if flipped one direction. However I am not able to open the trunk this way. It acts as a permanent lock. So I figure the switch must be flipped the other direction and need to replace my actuator. Is this hard to do. It looks to me like it two switches holding a bracket to hold the actuator itself after plugging in the actuator from both sides. Is it really this simple?? Is there more to it???

I have a 2003 acura rsx my starter was messed up so i switched it my car will turn over but wont start and if it does it will rev up then die, i just got a new battery so i don't know what is wrong...

Make sure the cable clamps or bolts are clean and tight on the batt. Dirt will interfere and cause batt to act like it is low on power.

I Had Ford explorer 2003 when i take stop engine shuts off any help?

I have seen many of these die out due to a broken or cracked vacum hose. Look under the hood and listen for a whistling or hi vacum noise. You can also take carb cleaner and spray around vacum hose and pcv valve and intake. If the motor revs up or stalls out when you do this then you definitl have a vacum leak. Find and replace.

If I am wrong about the vacum hose I woulds inspect idle air control motor, throttle position sensor, (both canbe cleaned as a temporary fix) or worst case may be a fuel pump.

Just replaced the starter on a 2002 Acura RSX. had to remove the intake. after the motor warms up the RPM's start to hunt. Did not replace the intake gasket. could this be the cause?

If the RPM's are going pretty low to where the car seams like its about to die, then it could be a vaccum leak. Whick could be cause by a bad gasket or something maybe didnt get sealed right when putting everything back together. If you do decide to change the gasket, i would recommend the "Hondata Intake Manifold Gasket". Its thicker and not made from metal and also keeps your intake manifold cooler.

Idle and hesitation while accelerating!!!

The simptoms you are describing sound like the catalitic converter, that will choke the car and potentally get better as the car heats up. advance auto will scan the car codes for free. a quick check is to start the car and check the exhaust flow out the tail pipe there should be a fair volume of exhaust gasses at high idle when you first start the car at cold.

Engine dies when in forward gears but is fine in rev., neuteral or park.

im taking it that this is an automatic? there is a vacum modulator on the transmission. if this canister gets a hole in the diaphram it will **** trans fluid in forward gears and will cause the car to die.
another senerio is that when your starting out you have your foot on the brake you put it in gear (forward) and the car dies? you could have any number of places that a vacum leak can contribute to this problem. brakes use, vacum modulator needs so do alot of functions on todays cars get a vacum leak and they dont have what it takes to do the job. look for cracked, worn or disconnected lines around the intake and on the vacum canisters on your fender wells.

Regarding the heating issue, sounds like your thermostat is stuck open so the coolant isn't heating up. (May need replacement) Does your engine temp guage show it running colder than normal?

Sounds like intake air system, look for cracks in hoses (possible intake manifold gasket) all vacuum hoses and connections. Make sure TPS and all filters are clean. Sounds like a lean mixture/flooding issue. Common problems with FWD is the Air Intake Hose, lots of flexing. Cracks form on the bottom and debris comes off inside over time(thus fouling the TPS downstream). Remove inspect carefully, If it is hooped you can fab one up yourself with PVC and some clamps and Aluminium Dryer Ducting. With the proper alignment and bigger airways you will boost your performance. The TPS can be cleaned with Carb Cleaner, replace the air filter and then test with a Vacuum Pressure Gauge install in line, directly off a Intake Manifold Vacuum port.

Try that and get back to me? I'll be around...

your car has a timing chain with a hydraulic tensioner. is it just an unstable idle ( revs up and down) or does the engine have a slight misfire?
