SOURCE: where is the crankshaft sensor located ?

The crankshaft position sensor (POS) is located on the oil pan facing the gear teeth (cogs) of the signal plate. It detects the fluctuation of the engine revolution.
After replacement, ECM reprogramming is required.
This vehicle may be subject to voluntary recall, CAMPAIGN I.D. # R0606, that involves the crankshaft position sensor:

Quote: Nissan has determined that on some 2003 - 2004 Altima and Sentra vehicles with the 2.5 liter engine the operation of the crank angle sensor is significantly affected by variations in temperature that occur due to the unique location of the sensor in the engine. Under certain driving conditions, these variations in temperature can be large enough to cause a brief interruption in the signal output from the sensor. If the interruption in the signal from the sensor is so brief that the Electronic Control Module (ECM) logic does not have time to diagnose the condition, the engine may stop running without warning while the vehicle is driven at low speed.

Where is the crankshaft position sensor for a 2008 Saturn Astra i have a new one I just can't find it

Do you know where the starter motor is located? My info says to remove starter, first. It appears to be on backside of engine. The crank sensor connector is a three wire connector. Wire colors, blue-- brown with a yellow tracer--black with white tracer.
I found a picture, but, not much orientation. See the starter cavity on left of picture, see flywheel teeth? 1 and 2 are crank sensor and crank sensor wiring harness.

Crankshaft sensor location astra mk3 1.4

I never looked, :) But here's an easy way to find it,

1 Look at an Image of What a new Crack sensor looks like,
"You should see an Ear tab with a bolt hole to hold it it place,,.

2 Front of engine you should have a that same part Shoved into your engine at the crank on the side of the engine, usually around the 3-5 O'clock and 7-10 O'clock position,

Looking form the bottom up it should be easy If you dont see it or feel it there look at the back of the Engine it might be using the Flywheel as the location with your Crank sensor pickup. Average time to fix 5 min's average time to find it If you have the new one should take about 2 min's Good luck.. BCB..
