Question about Cars & Trucks
Brake lights come on when normal operating lights are turned on
There is a short in the tail lights. The wiring that powers the tail lights is shorting to the brake light wiring. Should be simple to find. Will be obvious unless it is in the rubber connector under the vehicle that will have to be cut and hard wired in.Check all connectors starting right at the light bulb itself!

SOURCE: no dome light on tacoma
The dome light gets 12 volt battery power at all times. The door switch, when the door is opened, allows the current to flow to ground, and completes the circuit. The door switch allows the ground to be made. Measure for 12 volts at the wiring connector, and measure for direct short at the ground wire, with the door open. The Ground wire is white with a black tracer.

The brake light switch is located on a bracket under the dash near the top of the brake pedal arm. To remove switch, disconnect wiring, loosen locknut and unscrew switch. Replacement is reverse procedure. To adjust, screw in switch until operating button is fully depressed by pedal arm, tighten locknut and reconnect wires. Check for correct operation of lights You may have to unscrew switch slightly to get best operation..
