Question about Lincoln Cars & Trucks

2 Answers

I have a 1985 F150. After seeing a pink nose poke out of one of my dash vents, I determined that I had wild life living in my truck. I have cleaned out the blower motor housing under the hood, the box behind the glove compartment and the hoses going to each vent. The A/C works fine. I put the climate control lever on high and the selector on A/C. When I slide the lever to defrost and continue to heat, I can hear the blower motor run, but no air is coming through the vents.(none of them) I can hear a door open and close and found a cable that seems to control it. It is the same line that moves when I slide the control lever from A/C to defrost to heat. I found a fuse behind the glove box and changed it just in case, but no difference. I'm not sure what the fuse may control. Any help would be appreciated.

Best guess:motor runs but does not blow, conclussion, the fan blade is out of place,as the tubes never got 100% closed, somewhere must blow air (to the window,to the feets...)Cheers

If you had rats or some other type of wild life in your heating vents, it would be my guess that they dragged some nesting material like paper, rags, straw into your heating ductwork. Just a guess.

Ok, I went back out today and re-checked everything. Originally there was much critter stuff throughout the entire system. I had cleared a nest from one of the vent tubes and patched a hole in it, cleaned out the cage under the hood of leaves, twigs, nut shells and was pretty sure everything was out. I took everything apart today and reran the venting. I did find a little more in the cage/heater core area under the hood. It's really hard to get your hand up in there not to mention a hose to **** stuff out, but I do think it's clear. When I move the control lever from a/c to heat to defrost, it moves freely and I can feel that the doors moved with my hand. When it's set to A/C, both the blower under the passenger dash and the external blower under the hood run and spin at all four speed settings from low to high. When I slide the lever from a/c to heat, the inside blower stops and nothing is coming through the vents, but the blower under the hood still spins. When I continue to slide it to defrost warm air comes out of the defrost vents, but not very strong even at high. The inside blower does not spin, just the one onder the hood. Both lines going to the heater core get hot. All venting appears to be clear including the defroster venting. I even reversed the vac and blue air from under the hood through the blower housing past the core and through the firewall into the internal vent work. Some residual dust bler through, indicating things were clear. The internal blower only seems to function for the A/C. Is this how it should be? Also, after letting the defroster run for a while there was a slight unidentifyable oder and our eyes started to water. Does anyone have a schematic of how the doors are positioned. I found two. One that seems to open and close when sliding from a/c to heat and back and seems to be more on the engine side of the firewall between the blower and heater core. The other maybe just inside of the firewall and more towards the top. It seems to be related to the defroster.. The other is

How do I replace the headlight switch in a 1985 ford f150 xlt

  1. Disconnect the battery ground cable.
  2. Depending on the year and model remove the wiper/washer and fog lamp switch knob if they will interfere with the headlight switch knob removal. Check the switch body (behind dash, see Step 3) for a release button. Press in on the button and remove the knob and shaft assembly. If not equipped with a release button, a hook tool may be necessary for knob removal.
  3. Remove the steering column shrouds and cluster panel finish panel if they interfere with the required clearance for working behind the dash.
  4. Unscrew the switch mounting nut from the front of the dash. Remove the switch from the back of the dash and disconnect the wiring harness.
  5. Install in reverse order.
Good luck.....
