Question about 1991 Buick Regal

1 Answer

Ok I have a 91 buick regal, for the last month it has been what I call jerking , or buckling while i am driving it, it doesn't do it all the time, sometimes once a day or 5 times a day or it will go two days and not do it at all, my son has replaced every filter, and spark plugs, and put in a new fuel ignition regulator, then this morning I took it to a mechanic and because it chooses not to do it today while the mechanic has had it, he says he can't find a problem, can anyone help, ?

SOURCE: 2003 BUICK REGAL TRANSMISSION PROBLEM.

This is a common problem on some GM cars. There is a pressure control valve in the side cover of the transmission that needs to be replaced. The transmission does not have to be rebuilt. You will need to get a side cover gasket also.

The error that I'm showing for error code P1133 is
P1133 Heated Oxygen Sensor (HO2S) insufficient switching bank 1 sensor 1(Rear Bank).  I would suggest having both of your Oxygen Sensors replaced if you haven't already had that done.  Hope this helps.  Thanks for an honest rating and for using FixYa.

Trans jerk is a sign of wear and tear. You don't say how many miles its done? Is the trans fluid level correct? When was it last serviced? Have you asked a good home mech/garage to ride with you to see fault?

Buick Regal Problems

Whenever a car starts missing, it's usually one of two things, Bad Fuel or an electrical/electronic problem. Did your son-in-law replace the spark plug wires as well? It sounds like he covered everything else. It could be that simple. I live in Washington State where we get a lot of moisture in our gas tanks. If you let your gas tank get too low before fueling up, sometimes the tanks condensate from all the moisture, and you end up getting water in your fuel tank which will drive you crazy when your car starts bucking or missing for no good reason. When I was doing a lot of commuting I'd add gas dryer to my fuel tank. Chevron makes a pretty good fuel additive which cleans up your injectors which can also mimic this problem. Hope it's something simple.

What cause my 1995 buick regal to jerk at 55 just before passing gear,i do have a leak in front tranmission line would that be it

Stop any oil leaks as the transmission requires exacting oil pressure to do the job. Any leaks reduces the pressure so gear changing is affected. Besides when do you know if the oil level has dropped below operating level and will be insufficient for the gear box.

I need the fault codes. Without the codes I can't help, just to many possibilities. Have never heard of any fault code that cited Auxiliary emission control sensors" in my 35 years of emission repair on all makes and models. Sooooo... have the fault code(s) read again and write them down. Autozone does this test for free.
