Question about Cars & Trucks
Air blowing out when oil filler cap removed
A breather locked won't blow air throw the cap, most likely is from the pistons, leaking compression,if some (little) smoke is coming out tooSmoke may appear at the oil dipstick also.(...)Must considerate that the air is going out-in when cap removed...do not missinterprete as air blow.Residual oil (or oil vapor) may splash also, this is not smoke.

Yeah, it's supposed to do this, so keep the cap on when the engine is running

Most likely the thermostat is sticking. Get the system flushed (get that rusty liquid out of the system), replace the thermostat & put in new coolant. Should fix it.

yes their is a breather pipe but if its that bad then either its completly blocked or you need a engine rebuild. The breather is on the front of the engine with a pipe running to the air intake and the dip stick is in the top

I had the same problem. I changed the pcv valve and checked the hose. It still did the same thing. Then I checked the metal tubing that the hose connects to and found it was full of hardened gunk. I sprayed PB Blaster into the tube let it soak for awhile. Then took an old choke cable, put it on a drill and ran it into the tube like a drain snake. It took a while of doing this over and over but eventually got it cleared out. Now, no more oil all over the engine and hood compartment.
