This sounds like a failing heater core. You may be able to flush your coolant system using a garden hose and compressed air from an air compressor( if available). Doing this may dislodge any deposits that have built up overtime. You may also want to replace your thermostat.

I would be looking at a shorted blower resistor it is located behind the glove box on the HVAC housing. Prob the switch contacts with a 12 volt test light if the bulb intesity does not change the blower resistor is bad. The resister is at fault about 99% of the time.

How do you know it needed freon, without gauges its hard to know, most people add freon because its not cold and that may not be the problem, in turn they cause more damage to the system, these vans are famous for leaks.check all the fuses, then jump the low preasure cycling switch and see if compressor truns on,youll need to look at the clutch to see it turn, then the next step is to check the lowside and highside preasures,

yes you need a new thermostat or there is low coolant. this will affect the mpg because your overheating and thats why its stalling. dont drive until you fix or you will blow your head gasket if it isnt blown already. change thermostate and check coolant.

My 2006 Chrysler Town and Country Limited has an air conditioning issue that even the dealership cant figure out...With the AC on and circulating and the van running it will begin blowing cold then all of...

your clue that it is ridiculously hot indicates that the problem is in the climate control module
it indicates that it is cycling the thermostat or you have a faulty thermostat that is cycling the climate control module
take it to an accredited ac specialist shop for a proper diagnosis

Heater will not blow hot air until about 20 mins. after the van has been moving

Could be that the thermostat is stuck open or it was removed. FYI-How the thermostat works: Thermostat is closed when the engine is cold, after the engine reaches a certain temperature the thermostat is supposed to open to allow coolant from the radiator to the engine, if the thermostat fails it will either stay open or closed, so it may take sometime for the engine to heat up.Try that. Good Luck.

After the engine warms up, the air from the blower system remains cold.

Likelt thermostat, to check warm up engine and feel top heater hose, if it is just warm to the touch and not hot then your thermostat is stuck in the open position and will need to be changed. If the hose is hot then your control valve for your heater is stuck in the cold position and will need to be fixed.

2001 town & country limited blows cold air intermittenly. happens with both front and rear. Changed thermostat, radiator cap, both needed anyway. Temp gages are fine. hoses in and out of heater core...

If the hoses to the rad is hot the chances are there is an air lock in the heating core. The best place to bleed the air out is at the top. If there is no provision for bleeding air you will have to slacken the hose and manipulate it to allow water/air out.
Make sure for safety's sake the engine is cold to prevent scalding yourself. Have an assistant topping up the engine rad while you are working on the bleeding operation
